yea you need the acorn style. i had the same problem. just go to a parts store and see if they have some behind the counter. chrome lugs make a big difference

I've got the same problem. The lugs on my IROC look like hell, and I don't even have any for the GTA. I REFUSE to put cheap chrome lug nuts on the car, and paint won't stick to chrome no matter what you do to it. GM wants $7 EACH for the lug nuts, and the local Big A Autoparts wants $4 each.

SLP sells the style that have the black plastic caps screw over them, but nobody seems to know if they'll fit the GTA or not. I suspect that they haven't changed between thirdgens and 4th gens.

Believe it or not, Chevy is still using the lugs nuts with the screw cap on them on the Cavalier.
You can go to just about any junk yard and find those caps.
I had acorns on my Formula because some cheap b@stard liked my WS6 center caps and lug nut covers, and I too thought the dealer wanted too much. My friend brought her 98 Cavalier over one day, and I took the lugs off to change a tire, and there were the same caps as on the T/A. I switched one that was tore up because some tire place along the way destroyed it. Perfect fit.

those lug nuts with the seperate screw on covers are big and ugly IMO.My wife has them on her firebird.Did gm use the iroc type on other cars in the 80,s or early 90,s.I hope they didnt make a special nut for just these wheels. The $4.00 each doesnt sound as bad as the price I got.it was more like $9 each.so thats not bad.anyway thanks

You can get the 'external thread' nuts and plastic caps from NAPA.

82Camaro,

Any idea what the Napa part # is (I did a search but failed to come up with anything)?

No I don't have the part number. I just went in and looked through their book of lug nuts. The external thread nuts for some of the late model s10/sonoma are external thread. For example a 94 Sonoma with aluminum wheels has external thread lug nuts--It doesn't have the covers though, just a cap that snaps onto the threads. Then just ask for the small plastic caps(they have different sizes).
