Wheel + tire combo , oldschool look

Someone has black rims with white lettering tires ? , i'm thinking in a new set of tires and rims (15")

if you have something like that in your thirdgen , post a couple of photos , thanks

I like nascar style rims ...

Example (too extreme and a bit greenish , but you get the idea....)

Re: Wheel + tire combo , oldschool look

I kinda do that, I have equal sized tires all around and blacked out rims, not into raised white letters. All 4 tires the same size is the key to that looks.
Though I add a touch of NHRA to mine, not in that pic but I paint the white wedge shape on the rears like you see on TV.

Re: Wheel + tire combo , oldschool look

Never quite got the whole "make my wheels the same style as Nascar" thing... I mean, NASCAR never raced thirdgens... and the only time I see them "racing" like that, its usually dirt track.

To each his own I suppose.

The I.R.O.C. Camaros and Firebirds where the best looking race cars since the Road Runner, Torino, Cyclone, Dodge Daytona and the Plymonth Superbird. The Firebirds being my favorite of the bunch.

Dude, hes talking about the IROC race cars, International Race Of Champions

Where they take a dozen or so of the same cars, set them all up the same, then draw lotto for who gets what car, making it a pure drivers race.

Any car used in the said race is an IROC ------.

1997 IROC Firebird

The IROC Dodge Avengers made the biggest leaps durign their first trip to IROC, that rear end design they used made it possiable for them to run tail to tail without washing each other out. And you now find that type of desing used on the rear of many street cars now. During that race Petty won it while sitting in a press room watching it on TV after a wreck.

that is not a camaro. it is a plastic molded shell. its no more a real thirdgen than a revell model kit.

Re: Wheel + tire combo , oldschool look

They make them 10inch wide but the offset is different. I heard with the offset they offer for a 10inch wide rim the tire might stick out of the fender lip or they will sit flush.

I see you don't follow racing that much. Those cars were all handcrafted from sheet metal and would fit the stock template all the way up till GM pulled factory backing out and the Firebirds were narrowed. That was the end of the I.R.O.C series. Without the I.R.O.C. races the Camaros that we have would not have been as big. When the IROCZ came out that is when people really started noticing them. Before then they were looked at as all show no go. Then when they came out with the IROCZ everybody had to have one.

I.R.O.C is International Race of Champions.
IROCZ the name for a Z-28 I.R.O.C. inspired sports car.
