Solution for Grimy tail light covers

I was wondering if anyone had a really good working kind of solution to clean grimy covers for tail lights or even the plastic covers for the fog lights or anything...just a thought.

I had the same problem with hazy and foggy tailights , so I purchased this product from meguiars called plastx. I used it as directed and boom my tail lights are like new again!! I mean they are soooo clean it's hard to believe. I also used it on the wife's 2001 Durango, headlights and tails and she actually thought I had bought new headlights!!!!!lol here's the stuff here.

this is the correct way of doing it if they are truly "fogged" as you say. I start with wetsanding (add some soap in the water as well) 1000, 1500, then 2000. Then use a rubbing compound, then use a polishing compound (or plastic polish, whichever I've found works nicely as I've tried both).

Before:

After:

Doesn't take terribly long, honestly. Do it this way and they'll stay looking this way for a long while.. and whenever they start to fog again (which won't be any time soon), just redo them.

Yes this is how I have fixed lenses on my cars in the past. Using a plastic designed polish alone will make it better. But really the only way is as stated. wet sand... then a true rubbing compound then the plastic polish! You will get a wonderful result every time!

Re: Solution for Grimy tail light covers

A quick buff on a buff jack makes them better than new.

Re: Solution for Grimy tail light covers

Yeah I just used the plastx polish and my headlights and tails look good as new, no need for wet sanding here.

Depending on how bad/foggy they are you may need to wetsand and buff. I do it on the side and it's not very hard. Just can take a little time. PM me if you want to send your lenses to me to buff. I had a post up on here with pics of my tail lights after the wetsanding and buffing.
