Just looking for opinions on my ideas for my car. Still gotta wet sand and buff it this week and re-undercoat and paint my wheel wells that I got over spray on. I'll get more pictures after Im finished.

1st picture is how it sits now.

2nd Im def gonna paint the wheels black when I paint my headlight buckets black. I really think it makes it lo mean.

3rd This is were I need options, im thinking about getting a hockey stripe like on the 5th gens I really like how they look. im not sure about it on my car though.

Options welcomed, I was gonna do some red heritage stripes but Im gonna try and get an SS hood sometime this year so I dont wanna waste the money on those when the hood will be gone soon.

 

I like the hockey stripe because it breaks up the white. (I hate solid white cars) And the black wheels. I just hate how the stripes don't ever go with the body lines at all. They never do, hasn't anybody ever made them with the same lines as the front bumper?

I would say option #3 is the best though.

 

Personally, I thing #2 is best. I like the black wheels with the white.

All of those pics looks clean, if it sits right and is simple/well detailed it will look good.

The one with the hocky stripe..Maybe a reverse pin stripe 1/4 wide or so would help or maybe a very thin grey pinstripe around the outside of the strip? Thinking out loud.

hard to figure unless youre good at photoshop. Mines all white too (old A body) trying to figure how to accent it some too while keeping a clean look.

 

Dont really like option #3 but I think option #1 looks really clean and option #2 looks pretty BA! Also is that the black one in your sig? I really liked it as it was...black!

 

All of them look good, but I would probably stick with 1.

Thanks for the comments so far, really helps. Im leaning towards option #2 right now with maybe buying one of those cheapo 5th gen hockey vinyls on ebay just to see how it would look.

I'll probably keep it like it is(Opt #1) for a month or so while i get everything cleaned back up and wait on the weather to warm up so it may grow on me.





Yea its that one, The paint looked good in pictures but was really bad in person. Clear was peeling and faded. It had purple pearl ghost heritage stripes and was really cool in person, it went from really nice to crappy in the span of two months literally.

 

if you want to test a hockey stripe out have one made at a local shop...the ones for the 5th gens look like poo becuase the body line is no where close to a third gen

 

lol it lives around the back in the warm shed, even though it was 30 degrees i just had to wash it.

 

I will look into that before I order anything, ive never had any vinyl done before. Any idea what something like that would cost?

 

that REALLY depends on the shop, itd be hard for me to guess but i wouldnt imagine it would be outrageous or anything.

that car will look sick white with the black rims and an ss hood....maybe even paint the scoop on the ss hood black as another option

 

I really am not a fan of the whole black rim trend; they look like spare tire donuts.

I like how it looks in picture one, paint looks great!

Leave it as is for a while, let it grow on you and then see if you want to change things.

your car looks sick man i personally would stay away from the red hocky stripe but the middle pic is just so clean. I would tint windows darker and maybe put a thin graphite/charcol pinstrip down the middle starting from the the rear light and flowing the body lines on the rear to the front maybe? You have a nice looking car either way you slice it. good job those zo6 rims look awesome

Hahaha, SOMEDAY I'll find a rim that I really love...I've found lots I like, but none that I flat out just absolutely love.

ha ha i couldnt help that one, your car is so stock and clean it almost needs the stock wheel...do you like the stock 16inch wheel?

i really only like black rims on two colors..white...black...and a silver or gunmetal car...theres a few others but those come to mind

 

A pin stripe may be the little touch I need, i may give that a try in photoshop and see.

what about an iroc stripe that encircles the car above the gfx?

You cant tell from the picture but the wheels are in a major need of polishing. So before I spend the money and time on some good polishing compounds i'm thinking I'll paint them black(option #2) and see how they look. Ive got everything I need so its basically a free mod to do. If they don't look good ill just strip it back off and give them a major polishing overhaul.

So IF the weather is ok this weekend ill hopefully get my headlight buckets and wheels painted and get some pictures.

That was one of my first ideas before I painted the car. The only problem was I didn't want anything else on the front of the car. I really like the front of the car the way I did it and didnt want anything else up front.

Things i did one the front:
1.)White Chevrolet grille with a red bowtie
2.)Black headlight buckets
3.)I took my clear parking lamps apart and painted the housing white then put them back together, I like the way it turned out.

 

badass! Give me those Zr1's and it'll save me some time painting, lol

 

what if you paint the wheels black, then when you get the SS hood you do a Manta Stripe?

 

Black wheel centers. White lip > silver (in your case). Black pinstripe the fender well lips on the edge (think: ridges of coins) so it'll be barely noticeable. Paint the Z28 GFX emblem black. Done.

 

im a big fan of hockey stick stripes as you can see i picked up mine from hawksthirdgen for 70 bucks to see if i like them i put them on myself really not that hard and i had never done it before. but i do like the white i hope one day i will go black ive always wanted a black camaro. go with the stripes lol

 

#1 or #2, can't go wrong.

Hockey stripes, not so sure they work on our body style.

If you must do stripes, do something subtle; try two black or two red grand sport stripes.

What size C5Z rims are you running and what did you have to do to get them to fit? (adapters, spacers, 4th gen rear?)

 

Thanks for the input guys. Im actually almost done taping my wheels up now, instead of black centers im gonna try and paint just the inserts(windows) on the wheels black first. Picture below:

There 18x9.5 w/ 2in spacers, then 275/35/18 fronts and 285/35/18 back.

 

Personally I would leave the wheels polished, that makes the car so much more than the look of having winter steelies on...as for stripes...go for it to break up the paint a bit!

I would prefer the black hockey stripe. And I would have painted the wing black to break up the white just a little. I love whites on 3rd gen Camaro's that is whta I am going to do with my car someday. White with black hood, black spoiler, black wheels.

 

White cars with black wheels rarely looks good unless it's an exceptional set of wheels. Keep your polished..looks 10X better.

I'd say no on the stripe too...unless it's black.

I only like black wheels if they have a polished lip or a body color lip. I have seen some nice full black wheels with a color keyed pinstripe on the wheel lip that really pop. I have a white car that I was thinking of putting white wheels on, but running a red stripe on the rim lip to tie in the factory red interior color

Id go with a black hockey stripe, if u do one. But I prefer #2.

 

i like the black wheel inserts, the silver face is definitely needed. the black wheels on white white cars looks like a terrible mis-match to me

 

i'm liking the 2nd picture. 3rd pic is pretty sweet too, but i can't decide if i'd like a clean paint job or have a stripe.

 

UPDATE: This is what I chose to do, im happy with the results.

Its been pouring all day and after working 12hours all i wanted to do was come home and put them on the car. So look over the wet ground and car and the stance maybe off a tad cause i just let it off the jack stands.

 

should have had the iroc louvers black and the headlight buckets black to break up the white just a little bit. But it looks like a nice paint job nonethless
