Also curious, how did they paint the car?
It appears they painted each piece individually, disassembled? I'd like to do this with mine but I've heard too many people say that's very risky with metallics because it's hard to get the flake pattern right.

Re: Finally got some new paint
No way the headlight buckets will be black. The painter asked if I wanted them done in black, and I said HELL NO!!! They did paint it apart, and it matches perfect. He said theres a trick to it, paint each part as it is on the car.

Re: Finally got some new paint
That's kind of what I figured, I see no reason they couldn't have each panel off the car, but lined up next to each other as if they were and just go from part to part the same as if it were on the car.
If you don't mind my asking, how long did this take and how much did it run? PM is ok if you'd like.

Also the pics don't do the paint & body work justice, it's very slick and straight. I"m very happy with the job. I wont say it's flawless, but it's pretty damn close.

Yes , I thought so on the price and time. I shopped around for a little while and was quoted prices from $2500 to $7000 for what I wanted . I had saw some of there work at some local car shows and asked about them, and other shops too. Also there less than 10 min. from my house. I'm glad I chose them. More pics will be coming next weekend.

Re: Finally got some new paint
I know the doors were taken all the way down, I saw that. I don't know about the rest of the car,It was already in primer and had been blocked when I saw it for the first time. But I'm confident they did what was needed. He wants me to come back in a week or two, to look it over and to take some pics in front of there shop. If I remember I'll ask.

Gorgeous car! I really love those wheels on the third gen's. Very clean and tasteful. Now I'm not so sure that I want to paint my teal RS' headlight buckets black after seeing how clean yours looks.

Reason I ask is i have the same wheels.

Re: Finally got some new paint
Rear tires are 275/40/18, stock C5 size. I have 2" thick adapters, and they have never rubbed. Thanks for the compliments. Factory color, I bought it new in '88, saw it in the dealer show room, and fell in love. I still can't get over how much different it looks, with the stripes and no silver ground effects!!!

Re: Finally got some new paint
I personally don't like the black headlight buckets, but a lot of people do. I really liked the silver wheels, when it had silver ground effects. I have another set that I'm thinking about powder coating black. I think it'll look good. What do you guys think ?

Love those door handles. Did you install them? If so what did they come off of, and do you have any pics of the install?

Very nice, I do like yours just the way it is even though I am a fan of the black buckets and maybe a Maui blue bow-tie grill.

Re: Finally got some new paint
I just cut the section with the handle recess out of the donor door and grafted it onto the camaro door, just like installing a patch panel. Then had to make the rods inside a little longer. The exhaust is a story unto itself. Lots of work that you can't even see. The entire trunk well has been cut out and raised for pipe clearance. I had made a thread on it earlier.

More pics are coming, I promise. I've been super busy. I just got back from running the Maxton Mile. It's filthy, has oil all over the left side, tape all over the front, and numbers on the windows. It looks almost like a damn race car LOL. I've got to clean it up for the Food Lion AutoFair this weekend I'll get some pics then.

Honestly, liked it better before. Your car is too light a color to use dark grey wheels
