need options and opinions
Hello all... I'm going to painting my car in a couple of months. I have a cervinis ram air hood for it and am pretty sure I'm going to be painting it Impulse blue metalic (found on 04-06 gto's) and i have new silver side and rear iroc emblems and won't be putting the iroc decal back on the door nor the strips. I can't decide weather to paint the headlight buckets and the place around the front license plate back to plack or the same color as the car. Just wanted to see what you guys thought, and pics would help too.
Oh and if it makes a diff the car will be getting some black with chrome lip 18" ruff racing 278 wheels.
Thanks

OK, you have to use your imagination or have these photos photo shopped. I went and brought up the color your thinking of and found a photo of this hood with that paint color(Impulse blue metallic)According to the Google search that is the color.. Nice color not to dark or light. If you don't have to use that front license plate than I would set it up like these photos but with the bowtie painted the same color as the car. You should if possible have black pieces on the front/hood (stripes) grill and black buckets so they all accent each other. The red bow tie grill on that car was necessary to finish off the open spaces on each side of the bow tie .They are inserts that finish the sides ,top and bottom of the openings. I recently was stopped for no front plate so I had to mount one in front of the bowtie. I did so with out drilling in to the grill. Bottom line paint them black.

Yeah I have to have a Front placte too. (been pulled over to many time for it not to run one) and I think mine says camaro on it in silver lettering right now. What I thought about doing for shows and cruises is to paint the bracket as well so it doesn't stand out that bad if i have the plate off.
I was thinking about the same thing your talking about with black buckets and front grill and then doing a strip in front of the scoops similar to the one on the 03 ish mach one mustangs.

Oddly enough I found a pic of a car with my hood and almost the same color I wanted. So did some work in paint and came up with a couple of scemes.
Re: need options and opinions
Keep the buckets body color.
Generally, you want to make a car look clean and smooth, so painting them black just makes the car look like it's got two black eyes. To me it doesn't make the car look sinister, it makes it look too busy. But I also am not a fan of stripes or decals on thirdgens, in general. This is an unpopular opinion.
Sure it was factory, but it was an oddball, completely random styling decision of the '80s IMO. Why not paint the wheel well arches black, or the strip in the rear bumper, etc.

I think the first picture looks the best, but I agree Ronus also, maybe with out the black on the hood. For comparison
