P.S.A. for posting pics

1. You must have your image on the web somewhere (photopoint, webshots, or any free website host that allows linking to images)

2. You have to link to that image using the UBB code like this

This will get you the result of,,
this,,

3. That's it. Keep in mind, some free website host do not allow image linking though (like anglefire, xoom, etc.) and you will not see an image.

Hopefully this helps someone,
plus the other 'posting pics....'
thread has like 122 replies on it.

On another note, when posting a pic that is on Geocities replace the www with fp seems to work for me.

EvilCartman,,, i've seen a few other peeps mention that,, but no one ever follow up (as in re-edit/post) using it,,, does it work ??
I know I'm on angelfire and so far (knock on wood) there hasn't been a prob.

Would be nice if more people looked & tried to post under here so they could post pics too so I know I didn't waste my time for the benifit of the new guys & ones that don't know quite how to post pics.

I know I don't do much here,,, but for once I thought I'd be of use

I was told that pics in the signatures were disabled. I agree with it b/c every page would take forever to load as some individuals don't understand how to make lower quality pictures from high quality.

For you guys who missed this when you made you're sig ( and somehow everytime you've edited it,,,)

Signature
Note: The Signature feature is currently enabled by this bulletin board's administrator. You may use UBB Code in this field, but not HTML. The UBB Code Image tag is not permitted, however.

I would assume because when you edit,, it's the same as posting a pic as if you were trying to make a image appear for a normal post (?) I would guess the cgi ((or perl or whatever programming runs this board) only recognizes to not allow pic in signatures as part of the original post

A smarter person the me would have to answer that one for you,, I'm only guessing

Hey Deadbird Formula90 here, it probably wont be to long till this thread reaches 130 replys also like the one I started months ago!!! It would be cool if one of us could write a tech article on this and give to the webmaster so we wouldnt have to use up so much bandwidth on something like this. But I guess it doesnt matter because people need a place to practice anyway!!! Oh well, just for kicks, I'll post my pic..take it easy man....

LoL formula,,, that's kind of what I tried to do here,,, my one image showing how to type the UBB code is missing sinec I erased it thinking this thread died awhile back and wouldn't resurface,,, shows what I know I guess :P

If one were to hit reply and then look to the left

<---------------

the way to type the UBB code to post an image is in the popup window that opens if you click on the link that says
*UBB Code is ON (to the left)

As I originally said though, some free web host Do Not allow the linking of images to another site (like angelfire, xoom & others)

A couple I have used that do are Angelcities.com,Anzwers.org, & Webshots.com,, all are free & fairly simple to setup a free account

*edit,,, to help out *maybe* I redid the the missing image & reposed it to maybe help out

Does this help? Try right clicking on the image. Click on "properties", cut and paste the "URL". Remember to use "[img]"past the url here, then "[/img]" just leave out the quotation marks. Good luck, Lon. Nice pic btw. 8^)

It's best to use your isp's webspace in my opinion it's fast for you to upload and delete plus if you have a website you can use it on there aswell
Plus your pictures load faster

Don't get me started. I can't get a damb thing to work when I try to post pics. I've got two huge ones on my account at members.aol.com/phantomchamp that work occasionally, but they are waaaaay too big to be practical. I edited several and put them on my members.aol.com/mysecretformula account and can't get any of them to work. I tried putting them on my homepage space at netidentity.com, which has nothing to do with AOL and never got them to work either. Oh well, it's light blue and looks gay anyways. I just don't care anymore.
