I just had the car recently painted and its going back to the shop to get a wet sanding and another clear coat spraying to help the new paint pop like it should and fix a few minor flaws. The paint guy said he would do the stripes for free. I was thinking of doing black stripes just along the edges of the raised section on the hood and come to a sharp point. Good or Bad decision? Black iroc decals are also getting applied to the doors and cleared over.

 

very important the line from the tip to the back has a pin stripe and for some reason it doesnt look as good without it I think it helps the contrasting colors blend better

 

I like yours w/o stripes. But I think it'd look good with them too.

I love yours with the stripe. white deffinately has to have some black contrast

 

Question, which Vendor did you buy the hood from, was it difficult to prep? Would you buy it again?

 

It looks great just like it is. Clean, not to busy! With that hood you don't need stripes.
What color is that? I am looking to stay with the original color on mine, looks kinda close.

 

Hawks third gen I got it back in 2003 it was good but did alot of finish work and a couple years ago it delamed basically the top half peeled off the bottom half and flew about 200ft up in the air but then again I was doing 160 and no pins but I would buy from him again I have met Bruce and hes a straight up good guy and stands behind his stuff and believes in what he sells

 

I think on your car the "less is more" thing applies. I'd stay without stripes

 

My original color was a maroonish or burgandy color. I wanted to stay close to it but wanted more red. I dont know exactly but can probly find out when i take it in. Its a dark red metallic.

 

Thanks for the input. I'm still undecided though and it goes in on wednesday. lunati397: The stripe does look good on white and I do like it on yours. But I was only planning on doing a stripe along the edges of the scoop (like some do on cowl hoods) and not the entire scoop.
And screaminformula for the "less is more" idk, but it may ruin that if I do go with the black ZO6 wheels.

 

its hard to get a regular paint to look good on a metalic and just doing the sides is tough because there is no difinitive edge to go off of

I had a friend with a metalic gunmetal car that copied me and did the scoop in flat black and it looked good he was in gm hightech about 6 months ago

 

Here's something I mocked up on Kandied's car a few years ago. Hope he doesn't mind me using his pic! ...anyhow, I was going to do this on my Iroc, but ultimately chose to stick with the stock hood. The stripes really break up all that solid color on the hood. On your car, I'd also paint the headlight buckets. The accent colors tie it together just like they would in a room in your house.

 

I'm looking to change my car up a little. Can you do it with and without the headlight buckets painted black? And use gold in place of the black on the hood. Also does anyone know if those hoods can be made so they truly use fresh air intake?

 

i think black wheels and painted headlight buckets would be perfect on this car. i really like the stock wheels (REALLY DO) but adding the black wheels and painting the headlight buckets would set it off nice. i still say no stripes. yes the stripes would look good, but i think she looks better without 'em.

Yea im convinced on the headlight buckets. I'm liking the pic abubaca posted, so I'm leaning more towards getting the stripes.

Where did you find black IROC emblems at? I need some.

 

If your talking about the door decals I bought them on ebay and they were fairly cheap if I remember correctly. but if you mean the rocker panel and bumper emblems, I still need to get those. Seen them on Hawks for around $70-80 I think.

Update for anyone who was curious on what I did. I chose to go with the stripes and had the headlight buckets painted also. Installed the Iroc-Z door decals and blacked/smoked the turn signals.
