So when I get back from bootcamp (leaving monday) Ill be doing a LSX swap on my '90 rs, but it needs a paint job as well since i had a little fender bender. Just want some input on my idea.

Basically the '90 RS will look all stock other than the hood, would like to get a sunaco hood, and I'm pretty set on painting it Blitz Black made by John Deere. I painted my z28 in that color and love how the matte black looked on the car. So in addition to having the car a Blitz Black color I'd like to do stripes, they'll be full length from bumper to bumper and go down the roof as well, and I think ill just use clear coat for the stripes. So it'll have a gloss black look on a matte black car. I also am debating on getting clear parking lights and side reflectors, thinking it will look cleaner than the orange.

What do you think of the idea?

Also I'm not set on rims yet (last thing im going to buy) bbut the choices I was looking at were -

I really like the gloss black C6 rims but I dont want to overdo the black scheme of the car.

Paint ideas sound horrible. Go with a good clear based black. Nothing beats the look of a Deep black paintjob. As far as the wheels, C6 take my vote.

 

The paint you had on the Z wouldn't look too bad, but I'd rethink the stripes- maybe a grey versus gloss black. I always like the traditional white stripes myself.

Good luck in basic. I've got 11 years in and wouldn't change it if I could. Just keep your head down.

High gloss black paint with gunmetal silver hood and hatch stripes and this wheel will give you a black on black killer look gets my vote =

Hope you know you won't save too much in Basic... They make you buy a ton of stuff, that and you won't really get paid too much.

It is a good place to start saving though! Congrats on enlisting! Make the best of Basic, it will suck while you are there, but once you are done you will look back at it and laugh.

I loved how the paint came out honestly, and a deep black done right will always look amazing IMO. I think I might still do it for one reason, haven't seen a pic of it done great...yet. So id I can pull it off like my Z28 I'd be happy. Besides I can always sand and respray it not a huge deal. The paint I'm using is super cheap, like $39.99 for 1 gallon, the hardner was more expensive than the paint suprisingly.

Either way if I were to go with my idea, what rims do you think would look best on that paint? and on the gloss black?

Also if I were to go with the gloss black on the car how do you think a matte hood would look on it? I love the bright color paint with matte hoods look, but might not work great on the black?
