Engine bay and block colors?
I'm putting a new engine in my camaro. Got the old engine pulled already and I decided to clean up the engine bay while I've got the engine out. Going to repaint it and replace the old rusty lines and old lombs and such.
I'm looking for some input on colors.
The engine bay was originally the same red color as the outside of my camaro. So the first question is should I go back with that color or go completely black in the engine bay.
I'm personally leaning toward just going back red like it was originally.
The other thing is the engine block itself, if I did the engine bay in black I could do the block in red to match the car, but if I do the bay in red, I think a red engine as well would be to much red. I've got chrome valve covers and a chrome breather as well as an aluminum intake for the top side of the engine.
If I go black, I'm worried the engine wont stand out much since all the parts on the front would be black as well lol.
I'd really like to see some pictures of engine bays that have been redone with a newly painted engine, searching I haven't been able to find many good ones. Most of them are taken from to far away at an angle that you can't really see the engine and how it looks sitting in the bay.
I know it ultimately is my choice since it's my car, but I wanted to see what others opinions where.
Here is a picture of the outside of my car from a couple months ago (I have changed a few things since but this way you can see the color red it is). I haven't taken any of the engine bay since I pulled the engine but if I remember tomorrow I'll take a picture of it before I start pulling all the stuff off the firewall getting ready to paint it.

body color. black is ok on some setups but if its something you plan to keep for a long time and like a little bit of originality id go body color. i had the bay on my trans am done black but redid it white when the 5.3 went in.

Lol, was wondering if someone would spot that
A friend that was helping me did that and I had not realized it yet when I took this picture.
I've got new emblems coming soon so will get it fixed when they come in hehe.
Thanks for the feedback on the rest of it, I'll keep the stock red color on the engine bay and just do the engine in black.

satin black. Doesn't look as bad when it gets dirty and it's super easy to touch up if it gets scratched. The only way black looks bad is if you have a very flashy/smoothed engine bay. Black would also make your engine stand out a lot more if it's dressed up. A red block in a black bay stands out more than any color block in a red bay, thats just a fact. Might not be factory correct, might not be someones personal preferance, but no way you can argue that fact from a visual standpoint. With a red engine bay, everything under the hood stands out...all of it. With a black engine bay, you lose a lot of the detail in the engine bay, and attention switches to the engine itself.
I know I'm in the VAST minority on this, just thought I would offer a different opinion since you probably won't get many. You sir, are correct. Ultimately your choice.
umm...aside from body color, isn't black the only other color you could go with in an engine bay? What other colors have you seen that make black a color you especially don't car for? Black has to be the next most common color. I can't see anyone thinking a color different from body color or black is even a viable option. What are we talking, dark grey, white, silver...?

Painted my bay with the engine in - I'm sure you can do much better wtih it out. Color scheme is red bay, red block, silver accents.

Re: Engine bay and block colors?
I would do black on black because it covers the dirt up and i think it made the car look nice since my exterior is maroon.
