1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

I've recently brought a 1991 RS 305 and I was wondering if I could swap out the stock RS grille for a IROC-Z Bumper insert.(Link Below)

If you have info upon subject would like to hear it Thanks

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

yes, but that grille is overpriced. I see them go for $30 all the time. The ones that say camaro on them sell a lot cheaper than the red bowtie ones

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

$30 for a beat used one, that one is a NOS one. On that note I've got a NOS CAMARO one, a NOS bowtie one, and even a NOS louvered RS one, lol.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

If he needs show quality, then maybe it's worth it to him. If he's going to spend that kind of money he should get a bowie one, at least it's correct for his year.

If it's for a driver, you don't drop $100 on a plastic grill

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

Just did the same thing on my rs, picked up a used one for $40 shipped, probably the best $40 ive ever spent on a car, almost changes the whole front look. Very simple install too, take off your RS grill, keep the screws, and fog lit grill using the same mounting points on the top and bottom as the rs grill but the middle ones are different so youll just need to run the screws thru plastic on the bumper(holes already in grill) takes about 5min all in all.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

yes, you can use that grill on your 92 rs, but you may have to drill a couple holes in the urethane bumper to get the holes in the grill to line up

yep only holes that arent there are the ones on the inside vertical edges, and the bumper itself is soft enough you dont need to drill can just thread right in, used all the screws from my rs grill didnt need anymore same mounting locations for the horizontal screws. heres a pic of mine with the rs grill and with the fog light grill you can see it makes a world of difference.

Wow - That is a big difference in looks. I can't even see the stripes in the first picture, with that new grill, the stripes stand out!

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

Instead of screwing it in, on my RS, I went to Pepboys and got some nice black pushpins used for securing body panels and used those to secure it. MUCH cleaner!

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

I have the one with the bowtie & it will go on when the car gets painted in about 3 weeks.

On a side note, a buddy recommended I have it cleared at the same time that I paint the car. He told me if I don't, it will "dull" very quickly. The look great new, but again he told me they "DULL" if not cleared.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS Bumper Insert

Hey I bought my new parking light pair from 1A auto. These things are just beautiful installed. These ones give that factory fresh look. While there are many euro style types available as well as smoked or tinted ones. Real nice car, this will give the front end that "whoa" effect...I know people constantly say how new and fresh my car looks...and that was after i replaced all lights, oncluding all silverstars. Anyhoo here these guys are terrific to deal with.
