Re: Camaro?? LOL
You must be young...Back in the 80's the mustang, camaro and the Dodge Daytona (and Chrysler laser) were all competing for top muscle car honors. Of course the Daytona was a turbo charged 4 cylinder and couldnt compete with the torque of the v8's...They were still somewhat fast though. Its odd though because you NEVER see them on the road ever. Its like every single one of them went to the junkyard after the engines died. Personally, I always thought they were the second best looking car of the bunch behind an IROC Z. I never thought the 80's mustangs were attractive.

yep, young indeed. 21 to be exact. and thank you btw for 1.) not taking offense to this post and 2.) providing me with info that i, in fact, did not know. i had not heard a lick about the Daytona until a while ago tonight. they must have took the lose pretty hard lol havent even seen them in the junkyards my way. and so is that why the early 80's mustang has that exact similar look?

Re: Camaro?? LOL
The Daytona died at the end of 1993. It was the same car as the LeBaron convertible, without the soft top. Could be had with the basic 4-banger, the turbo 4-banger, and the 3.0 V6, which was basically the same thing power-wise as the 3.1 installed in our 90-92s (3.0 had 141 HP and 171 TQ, as the 3.1 had 140/180).
My buddy had one (a 93), that I got my hands onto for a couple of months, equipped with an oil-burning 3.0 (bad valve seals) and a 5-speed. When I had it, the fart can got canned (actually, I gave it to one of his friends), the Xplod headunit got sold, all of the interior garbage got removed and the Avital alarm system yanked and replaced with a different one that actually worked. I got the head set for it, but never put it in, even though I did get stuck replacing the fuel pump in it (sending unit leaked gas). His (now ex-) GF had an 89. It handled pretty well for a FWD car, but I wish it had disc brakes in the rear. There used to be a couple more around here, including a Daytona IROC... Dumbest thing I found about that car was the cable-operated clutch
.
There is a magazine article on the main page that has a comparison between the (84?) Camaro, Daytona, Corvette, and Rustang. In the comparo, even though the Camaro was an auto and the others were stick (the stick Camaro was stolen the day before the testing and all they could get in that short of time was an auto, could you blame the thieves for leaving the others, except the Vette?), the 4 cars tested and came out in that order, the Camaro #1, the Daytona, the Vette, and the Rustang was dead last.
:edit: Oh, and, if you have the game and haven't noticed it, in GTA San Andreas, the "Camaro" in that game is your basic ThirdGen with the Daytona rear hatch and tail lights. Not sure what the front is supposed to be off of (I'm thinking something like a Celica), but the back is definitely a Daytona.

I always liked the Daytona's. Looked like great cars from the ones I have seen at yards.

Oh, and another thing about that Daytona... If I could find a way to get those seats in my car, I would. Those seats were probably the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in, in a car...
