styling an lt body without getting the ground kit-photo06081858_2.jpg
can i get some opinions and crticisms etc? i realize most people own a z28 or iroc on here, but i think my lt is somethin special in itself. you dont see too many 3rd gens without the ground kits on them. and personally i like the look without them. but mine seems like it needs something small to make it stand out just a little more. maybe a stripe down the side or louvres or something ? im open to anything.good or bad

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

Tint the windows, new wheels personally I've never been a fan of that style of wheel.... Today I was at work and a blue Z28 was parked out front with similar wheels to yours and my coworkers agreed that it ruined the whole look of the car but beside the point...... I would definitely tint the windows and lower it to give it a more aggressive look! And look around the web for a good set of wheels for it but love the red color!!!

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

no-gfx cars look alsome but they need 3 things for me to really love them.

1. Solid body color, the car already sits high enough off the ground and when you paint the bottom part black like on yours its looks even higher off the ground.

2. STANCE! gotta sit low to help with not having gfx's.

3. WHEELS! 18's with a nice 2-3" lip out back and some nice 285-315/35's.

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

i can agree with them needing to be lower. but the thing is. its the only vehicle i have right now. and i live in a mountainous region of va. i mean around town and stuff its alright. but the roads are kinda rough in a lot of places. so i have to watch how low i get it. as far as paint. its chippin in a few spots. so itll more than likely get a new paintjob when i redo the engine interior etc.. and wheels im completely open to any suggestions. i like my rims, but im open to anything. i do want slightly bigger wheels tho. i believe theyre only like 15s

Grab some VHT nighhtshades and do the signal and tail lights. Definitely need to add some tint. Maybe a lower style of rim and tire. Side pipes are a great idea too, I'd love to see them on your car!

this is just my ... red cars look great with black rims. find you some 17 inch rims, stagger them, ditch the black stripe at the bottom of the car, and maybe a magnaflow exhaust. and of course lower it some.

Don't do the Nightshade, tinted tail lights look retarded and almost never come out looking good. Nothing worse than delaminated tails with some el cheapo spray tinting. It REALLY cheapens the look of these cars (or any car) IMO.

OP, ditch the wheels, and put the badges and side door moulding back on.

yeah, never was much of a fan of the tail light tinting. and im gonna burn whats left on the tires right now and probably go lookin for some rims. theyre getting faded n need an acid bath anyway.

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

I agree with changing those wheels, a set of big and littles, and a nice cowl hood. The sports coupes have more of a drag car look than the ground effects cars... so give it what it deserves.

nova, this is actually the route i was thinking about most. bigger tires. make it look a bit like a drag car. big hood cowl. dont wanna cut out my fender wells any more than i have to tho.

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

dont do side pipes, my buddy had them on his 88 SC, and they drug EVERYWHERE, they were really annoying and made people look at the car, in the wrong way. exhaust out the back is best IMO.

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

make sure you have more than a stock 305 under the hood

i have cut and hammered the inner fenders some on the back, but not minitubbed.

Re: styling an lt body without getting the ground kit

yeh. its got a shift kit in the 700r4. but thats about all performance wise thats been done to it. i plan on running the 305 until i get the $ for either a 350 sb or find a bigblock somewhere if i can get it cheap enough. honestly ive always wanted to try drag racin. but i havent got the slightest clue how to get into it

This, exactly... except 17s are fine too. Hell even 15's are good if they're nice drag wheels. Not that garbage centerline crap that belongs on an 80s conversion van.
