My 1991 Firebird Formula featured in October 2012 HPP magazine!

Don't know if this is the correct area to post this in, but in the next few days, the October 2012 issue of High Performance Pontiac magazine is featuring a SIX PAGE article on my 1991 Red Firebird Formula 350.
I was told that Barnes & Noble carries this magazine. It has all the mods that I put on the car and all of them are BOLT-ON, without tearing into the motor. This has been my show car for the last 15 years, and out of 5,200 Formula's made in 1991, only 1,198 had the L98 Corvette motor in them.

The L98 in the Camaro and Firebird is much different than the L98 used in the Corvette. The 'vette spec L98 was never used in an F-body.

He is right.

On the other hand, congrats. Post a link up here as soon as you find the feature online through the magazines website. I dont buy mags anymore because I will go broke at almost $6 each these days

Re: My 1991 Firebird Formula featured in October 2012 HHP magazine!

I know that the Corvette motor had aluminum heads and the L98 in the FBodys were steel. It is just a term some people use to describe the option, as that was a big deal in the late 80's and early 90's.

I subscribe to HPP and read that article first thing. Good write up and nice pictures. Love the car. Good work on it and I would say all the upgrades were tastefully done. Very jealous of your car.

Could anybody scan the article and post it up in here? I don't know how to this and would really appreciate it!

How about this picture for voting car of the month for August?

Not sure if doing that is legal since all mag articles are protected by Copyright. But I am no expert.

Going to B&N this afternoon to see if they have the latest issue.

Re: My 1991 Firebird Formula featured in October 2012 HPP magazine!

Just got this by UPS today. It is made by a company called "IN THE NEWS" and they got the information from HPP. They are 20" x 27" and are laminated over a black background and mounted on 1/2" hardwood. The pictures look like master copies because there are no fold marks and the colors are very bright. Very nice engraved plaques at the bottom which has the Pontiac High Performance logo, my name and the year and model of the car. High quality that you have to buy because this doesn't happen too often!

@edpontiac91: Finally found the mag at B&N yesterday. Great article and photos. Your car even got a little bit of front cover exposure. Very cool.

Can you post some better shots of the carbon fiber inserts you have in the interior? Where did you get them and what did they cost?

I bought them about 15 years ago (I have had the car for 17 years now) and the company I bought them from is out of business. Most companies now that sell interior trim, would be your best shot on eBay.

Re: My 1991 Firebird Formula featured in October 2012 HPP magazine!

bought the magazine and it was a nice article. Only a few things i read seemed inaccurate. the L98s especially the 90-92 speed density cars did not run 15 seconds in the 1/4 mile. L98s were mid to low 14 sec cars. L98 in my friends trans am is close to stock with the exceptions of little things he did to it ran 14 flat times.

Article was interesting to say the least though, love the formulas

If you look up the 2011 HPP Show and Go issue (Dec.2011) there is a picture of my car winning the P4 class. The 1992 Formula that I was up against had a dial in of 14.92 and ran 14.84. I am using numbers that most magazines of the era ran on their tests and even after SLP tested them with their package, did they approach low 14's. Not to argue, but every car is different and I'am glad your friends car runs so well.

Congrats on the article, know the great feeling you get. I did not have a great 6 page layout like you, but I did get one page in HPP (Jan 2002) and it was my best car moment, something I had always wanted. I haven't seen yours yet, but will when I can. Congrats again!
