HID conversion done!!
So I got this fairly inexpensive HID conversion kit from eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pc-H4656-H4...item2574137923
They and my headlight buckets did require some modifications to fit, I will include them as well as pictures.

For these HID's to fit the headlight buckets...

You will need to remove the tabs shown in the pic above, I used an angle grinder with a cut off wheel and then a file to smooth out the edges. It should look something like ths when done.

Re: HID conversion done!!
There are also four tabs on the back of the new light housings that I needed to trim shorter for the outer bezel to mate up to the bucket properly. I used the side of the wheel on my bench grinder since the back of the housings are composite and not glass you shouldn't have to worry about breakng them, unless you drop them. Unfortunately in my haste I didn't get any pics of that. Also, if you get the same HALO kit that I got you will need to protect the HALO wires, I used heat shrink tube because it is thinner than split loom. Its also a good idea to extend them before you install the lights.

Re: HID conversion done!!
I connected my HALO's to my parking lights but you could connect them to a switch or whatever, the parking light harness runs right behind the headlights and is a brown wire. I used double sided tape and zip ties to mount the ballasts between the two openings in the body behind the head lights, DON'T TRUST ONLY DOUBLE SIDED TAPE!! My ballasts fell off and almost got ripped off. I wired both the high and low on the xenon bulbs to come on when the highs are on because the HID's are off in high. Last but not least the finished project, I also got the stock fog lights installed (maybe HID's for them soon).

I Like it, especially for just $129.
So there is a parking light mode, where theyre just dim and blue? I like that. Its not unlike the DRL's they use today.

That first thumbnail with the lights up against the garage door is a huge difference from the last picture taken the same way.

Re: HID conversion done!!
The dim blue is the HALO, they are rings of LED's around the outside of the light that are controlled by the red and white wires with the shrink tube.

Wow those look really good. I like the halo ring when just the parking lights are on, that's sexxy. Great pictures and thanks for sharing.

Cool conversion! I'm not a big fan of colored headlights, but that'll make night driving much better!

I'm thinking of converting the fog lights to HID's next. Does anyone make clear replacement lenses?

Just FYI, never drive around with just your parking lights on, you will get pulled over/ticketed.

This is the perfect image of glare and light scatter. See all the stuff up the garage that looks like a lava lamp? That's bad.

Iansane, hey not trying to beat you up on it man but those cheap plastic ebay housings are junk. If your interested I installed good quality glass/meta autopall ones in mine and it looks awesome! I can post a pic after work tomorrow and give you a good link.
BTW whats up with the green color? haha
also, is the kit you bought single beam or hi/low combo?

Re: HID conversion done!!
anyone have a source for projector 4x6 units? I want to upgrade to Xenon because th candle power on my 88 is terribl. I'd prefer smokd units to match the gray color of the car.

That's not my picture/swap. That's the thread starter's picture. The housings themselves don't really matter as long as they're glass lenses with no flutes.

Who has them? Doesn't have to be hid, h4 or h7 for high beams is fine. Can get retrofit sockets

I think the color is because my garage door isn't white, going down the road they have a bluish hue.
The low is a single HID and the lights in the high beam housing (inner two) are xenon high and low beam.
I think the lava lamp look on the door is because they weren't aimed yet and it's down hill to my garage door from where the car was.

Seriously though, I have no idea. It seems like there is so much of a demand for something like that I don't understand why someone hasn't cashed in.

Twin Turbo,
I am making a set of retro projectors for myself. If they turn out good I may be willing to crank out a few more sets for people for a reasonable fee.

Re: HID conversion done!!
BUT in all seriousness you do have quite a bit of light going to waste.
Take a look at these http://www.hidexpert.com/producthtml/h4_adapters.html
Had to do a little modification but what little glare i had before, was gone after this.
