was wondering what people use to make the under side shine and clean looking for a weekend project thanks such as paint degreaser what ever you use

 

if i were you , i would start with a lift & a pressure washer . good luck .

 

no lift car is really clean just looking to take it to the next level shinning

 

i understand , i thought my car was clean also . i'm fortunate i have an outside lift . the first car pressure washed underneath cleaned dirt/crud from places we never knew were places . i know not everybody can do this . it's a wet & dirty job but worth it . good luck .

 

I here WD40 is good,it's supposed to remove a lot of surface rust on the springs,cross members,etc,etc.I haven't tried it, but I'm considering it.

i used a mixture of SIMPLE GREEN and water on my camaro and it looks great. use a tooth brush to get to hard to reach spots...

imo the oil all over the bottom helps prevent rust.

 

Besides that it'll attract all kinds of road grime. Just what the OP is trying to remove/avoid.

 

I put on a respirator and used liberal amounts of wax and grease remover on several rags. I scrubbed everything underneath. I also removed the tin heat shields, cleaned them up and clear coated. My exhaust is already down in preparation for a 406 SBC install. I got one of those little 3 inch rollers, a gallon of chassis saver, some old paint brushes, and went to town after some light wire brushing (very little rust). After that, I used a can of rubberized undercoating to hit all the little nooks and crannies the paint brush and roller couldn't reach. I also used a can of rubberized undercoating on the wheel wells. I used a piece of cardboard to cover the pinch of the wheel well as I sprayed. It's safe to say, my 91 RS will not be rusting "anywhere" underneath any time soon. I'll post some pictures sometime.

I agree, that or Castrol Super Clean works wonders. I'd dilute the Super Clean with water, spray it on heavy, scrub it in with a brush and hose it off. To small sections at a time.

Also for suspension and real oily, caked on dirty spots, scrape most of the material off using a putty knife before spraying it down with degreaser. I put my car up on 6-ton jack stands in my driveway. Put on an old pair of swimming trunks, old t-shirt, scraped off the heavy material, sprayed down the under carriage, brushed it then used my pressure washer to rinse it off. The water sure kept me cool since I did this during August before the T/A Nats.
