How do I get this adhesive off of my tail lights?

I am trying to get the adhesive backing from the blackout velcro that came on it when I bought the car off of my tail lights, and its not budging to lighter fluid, soap/water, nail polish remover etc. What else should I use? Thanks.

I have blackouts on my car right now. You should try this stuff called "Goof Off". Its like a clear liquid in a yellow bottle. Thats what i use when i take my blackouts off and clean the lights. Hope this helps some.

I think there is also stuff called Goo Gone or Goo B Gone....pretty much same stuff as Goof Off.....Its pretty much like if a store doesnt sell Goo Gone, they sell Goof Off.

Yes,lighter fluid. It removes paint, sap, and a host of other things. It is more or less a solvent as well as a flammable liquid.

Good ol elbow greese works for me most the time just take your thumb and keep rubbin that spot and it will eventuly ball up and come off. better yet take it to a car wash and have them wash it and when you look over your car point out the spots they missssed and they will take it off. Just be nice and tip the guy thats what i do when i wax my car and miss a few small spots and cant get it off they take it off for me

The thumb thing doesnt work..tried that too.The car wash wont work on this. That is for dirt, nd I doubt the guy will oblige me when I tell them they missed a spot when there are 8 white spots that I expect him to rub off,but thanks for trying.

If all that didn't work then that stff maybe burned on thire. What is it a smudge or some rocked up junk stuck on there?

If you really want it off get some paint stripper. But dont leave that suff on there for more then 10 seconds. Your safe to spray it off at a car wash with a high pressure sprayer. Take all parts that you put this stuff on off you car and park you car far from it. Remember most paint stripper is a acid and will melt plastic strip paint and eat you skin. "cool stuff" There is even some that can eat a hold in cement. Well if nothing works go for this stuff but be carfull "leave on for only 3 to 10 seconds"!!! get the cheapest most deluded stuff you can find since you putting it on plastic.

>hack at it

I have the same problem... On the inside of each taillight.. (on the black part) There are two big spots i used Goof off ot get rid of most of it... but cant get this off, its like crazy glue or something one there! and there are small spots on the bottom and top of the reverse lights and the brake lights...

I really dont want to buy another set of lights... I dont know how to put them in either so it would cost me way more to get them installed.

use a razor blade. then if you scratch it you can buff the lense.

take the lense out of the car you will be able to work on it much better.

good luck man.

Yeah, I'm switching to Easy-Off tomorrow. The lenses are already off of the car. I normally u the Easy ff to strip ol pain from my 1/24-1/25 scale car models. I was just surprised at how stubborn this stuff has been in getting it off the lights.
