3rd gen fashion "don'ts".....
These are modifications that really bug me on a 3rd gen. Just my own humble opinion and tastes. Not meant to offend anyone. It's your car, do what you want.
1) Disgusting hoods. I especially hate the one where the hood louver area is raised to make room for those four hood vents.
2) Any and all rear wings or spoilers which are used with or without the factory spoiler.
3) 4th gen instrument panels and consoles in our cars. I didn't care for the interiors in 4th gens, I certainly don't see them as an improvement in 3rd gens.
Okay....I'll stop now, before I offend too many people.

Re: Things I hate.......
The main things I hate the most:
1. Seeing Trans Am stuff on or in a Camaro. These cars have enough identity problems as it is.
2. Wheels and tires sticking out from under the fenders like a freakin' Jeep.
3. This whole Plasti-Dip craze.
"Look, guys... I Plasti-Dipped my hood and now it's a totally different dull shade of black, even though the rest of the car is pink with yellow polka dots. Doesn't it look SIIIIIIIICK?"

What Chazman said!
Well,... on street rides anyway.
I'm completely OK with way-out mods on dedicated racers built on salvage titles.
An F-16 cockpit shoehorned into a Berlinetta is OK so long as it wins its bracket!

Re: Things I hate.......
To each their own really! If it makes you happy shouldn't matter what others think but I hear what your saying. One thing I don't care for is when converting FI to Carb. It just takes away years of technology from the car IMO. But it is cheaper and easier to run which is why its chosen typically. I don't recall seeing a hate topic before but it could be very interesting. LOL

Re: Things I hate.......

I agree in general. Wouldn't say I "hate" some mods but they just don't appeal to me and lower the desirability and value of the car in my opinion. I try to keep an open mine about it. I see a lot of modified cars here that were well thought out and execute and look great. I try to appreciate the time, money and engineering that go into some of the well done modified cars, even though it's not what I've would have done if I'd had the time and the means to do it.
For every 1 of those you see 5 or 10 of what I would have to call "hack jobs" where I can't find much good to say about what was done, but again, that's just my opinion.
I guess the thing I'm still struggling with is the after market fiberglass blister hoods. I have yet to see one that really looks right sitting on a 3rd gen, can just say some are less ugly than others.

the 4th gen console is ok especially if you do a t-56 swap and don't want to modify your 3rd gen console, i used a short throw shifter with my t-56 swap so it would fir in the 3rd gen console. i Don't like that cowl vented hood its so ugly.. plasti dip can be ok when used right. i wouldn't

1. tires sticking out of the fenders
2. non thirdgen era engines--keep it old school
3. lights underneath and all over inside
4. someone gutting a car completely to make it fast--it can be done without gutting it.
5. not building it yourself and bragging.
6. Z28 stuff on an RS or vise versa. keep it real.
its just me. but I like the stock look. stealth is what I adore. looks stock outside and beast inside. like an RS that runs 11's and doesn't even look or sound it.

When I started building cars we heard about fuel injection but never really laid an eyeball on anything close to F.I. Pictures where about it and old ways are hard to change. There fore I vote for the carburetor.

Just to clarify, I didn't take offence to the hill billy remark. At my age, I find it amusing
how much dependence is put on any kind of new electonic/computer device. My kids
can't do math with some kind of calculator, I used to do complicated math problems
with a slide rule. And no, that is not a measuring device. Guess i'm just living in the
past.

If your going to bash why cant you at least spend the time to find out the name of the hood/hoods your talking about. What is ?= " I especially hate the one where the hood louver area is raised to make room for those four hood vents" ?
What exactly does this even mean ? = " Any and all rear wings or spoilers which are used with or without the factory spoiler." "With the factory spoiler" ? I don't think Ive ever seen a wing with the factory spoiler still attached.
No offence intended!

People saying they don't care what other people think about their car are full of crap. The reason people try to make their car cool is to impress OTHER people, not themselves. You drive around feeling cool because you know OTHER people think it is cool. If you knew everyone thought it was an ugly POS you wouldn't feel good driving it because it would not be cool. Cool is a popularity contest. So know, everyone cares what people think about the aesthetics of their car, if they care enough to mod them.

Re: Things I hate.......
What is the point of this thread? There are a lot of nice cars on this board that have 4th gen interiors, non original engines like the ls1, vette wheels, cowl hoods, even though not my taste look good if its a small 2" cowl. Also plenty of nice cars that would be nice original but it's called hotrodding guys, people like to modify and make things their own. Like a fast ls1 vs a 305tpi. Even if it's original who cares, it's their car. Point is this is a board for people to post pics, ask questions, and get an idea of what they like and don't like. If you don't like it that way then no one is forcing you to do it, make your car what you want. Sorry not usually a big poster, especially stuff like this that can be a bit controversial, but I don't see the point of making a giant thread that bashes a lot of cars, even some nice cars that are on this website.

Re: Things I hate.......
For example, this car. 2" cowl, vette wheels, ls1 t56. I personally am not a fan of cowls, some look a little out of place, and I don't know that I'd do the wheels on my car being that it's white and i think the chrome would be a bit much. But bottom line, this car is sick, the small cowl doesn't look out of place, and it's one of the nicer cars on the board for sure imo. Oh and *GASP* it has a 5" hawks spoiler.

I'm the opposite....I can't leave my cars alone. My friends give me a hard time because literally every winter my car goes "Under the knife" for something or another. One year it's an LSx swap, next year it's a custome 8.8" rear, another year it's for suspension goodies, etc.
This time around it's sitting on jackstands with no wheels until I order my new ones which is hopefully in a week. I just can't leave the darn thing alone.

Those that needs others to validate them selves and be popular needs to look at them self and ask why they NEED that. I myself am secure in who I am, So If that means you think I am full of crap, that's good, its your thought and you have the right to think that way, just know you're wrong.

Re: 3rd gen fashion "don'ts".....
I know I'll get burned for this, but I don't enjoy seeing a thirdgen with torque thrust II's on it. Great wheels, just don't seem to fit the stealth contour of the body. Also dislike cowls above 2 inches, especially when there is nothing on top that needs that extra room.
But some of the worst I've seen thirdgens equipped with are the drivers! You know, when you pull up to one with front end damage, one steelie, hatch mis-aligned, or even one that's sitting on 24's a foot off of the ground blaring Chris brown's "look at me now".......

I agree with you all Haha. Theres a girl with a Light blue 98 Trans am with what looks like a universal wing on it. It was a nice car, had the ram air hood on it, great condition. But i finally saw her in the gas station. So i quickly pulled next to her and got out and walked to her window and said "Nice car is this a nissan trans am?" and she said no its a pontiac.I responded with " Oh well i couldnt tell with your giant a$$ book shelf on the back.take it off, get a normal Trans am spoiler like mine has. Good day to you ma'am. And walked away. It was a wing like this

Ram air hoods on Camaros. They look bad enough on TA's, let the Pontiac guys keep them.

Most of you people in here who "hate" these things about other people's cars wouldnt have the courage to tell them in person, and if you cant do that than I dont see a reason for doing it online either...
This thread is useless not autodetailing and appearance related and the only part thirdgen related is how you "hate" this or that about other peoples cars

it needs to be

I hate people who whine about locking a thread because they're holier than the pope
I also hate the daytona hoods, the stupid ram air hood, lambo doors, ZR1 rims, ***** junk, bodykits, wings,... etc.

I have other things to be thinking about.
