Re: Dipped my Vette rims

Silver rim looks good with the silver stickers I think. It is cool to try it out for a while though and it's easily removed. You don't know until you try.

I like them both ways, but the mud flaps kills it.

Re: Dipped my Vette rims

I liked the silver better honestly. It did pull the stripes in much better. Maybe its the pics, or just the flat sheen on the wheels, but you paint seems almost semi-gloss now? Visual trick, or maybe needs a good polishing?

Ditch the mudflaps no matter which color you stay with

Re: Dipped my Vette rims

yeah the paint has gone south, it really needs a buffing but the drivers fender is not gonna come back to life with just a buff and the paint is thin on the hood and roof so an entire paint job is in the works, i stored it in one of those entire capsulated car covers and i think the wind blowing the cover around messed with the paint but all i was concerned with was my perfect dash pad and interior out of the sun lol

Re: Dipped my Vette rims

yeah my rims are just cast aluminum so there is alot of casting marks in them, this dip smoothed everything out i just wonder if i can try painting over top of the dip like a gunmetal or something

dipyourcar.com has nearly everything you can imagine with plastidip. You can make custom color kits, get a semigloss spray for it, all kinds of stuff.

You can paint over it, but it wont gloss well because it's not smooth enough. The other issue is it makes it a lot harder to remove, because the paint is brittle. You have to pull it off in chips. Might be kind of annoying.

Re: Dipped my Vette rims

You will catch grief about all black wheels like I do. Its kinda like when you try to sell a house.. everyone who gets a showing complains about how they like a different style of this or that. opinions are like a^^ h***s everyone has one!

at least it is plastidip so if you dont like it you can go back or change it. it is all about how you feel about the look of the car. Mine? I think it looks more BA so I dont care what others say.

Re: Dipped my Vette rims

I personally like the silver better, with the black rims the iroc decal looks out of place. It's your car so if you like it, that's ultimately what matters most.
