Cleaning up the TPI Air Snorkel

I was getting ready to throw out my TPI snorkel and get a new one because it was dirty and looked like it got coolant or some other chemical on it and had bumps all over it. I decided to try to fix it. First I wet sanded the bumps and crud off it with 2000 grit paper, then used some rubbing compound to smooth out the fine scratches then fininshed up with Blue Magic Metal Polish. It came out looking like new, Just thought I'd pass this tip along.

Theres this stuff called brasso, its like a metal polish, but also works great on plastic. I used it on a used grill insert I bought. With that and some elbow grease I made it look almost brand new.

Don't throw out those old plastic parts people... you can make them look like new with some work

If you have time, you ought to do the radiator shroud and the strut caps that way too. I'll have to do that to mine.

I used Krylon, gloss black. It's got the same almost-shiny finish as the factory plastic. Since the previous dope that owned my car clearcoated the entire engine bay, getting it back to bare plastic would have been a nightmare, so painting worked well for me. I'll have pics when I finish it.
