my 84 Camaro Berlinetta really needs a new paint job and I would like some suggestions on colors a designs. the car was originally silver and was paint over top the silver with blue by the idiot PO. .
my dad had an idea about neon green with white or black stripes that might look kinda good but I want to hear some other suggestions.
I was thinking silver or my dads idea but I want to hear other ideas. I would also like any designs to express that it is a Berlietta, but anything that looks good is ok. I cant do white because I cant afford to keep it clean, I don't think I want it black either

Put some rims on it (NO IROCS PLEASE) drop it and youll have a nice and rare car

or paint it black you can never go wrong with black...

I am keeping stock rims(I like the look of them) and I refuse to lower it(1st off I think it looks stupid when people drop cars, my personal opinion you are entitled to yours, 2nd I live in rural Indiana the roads suck in summer and winter)
I don't want to do black because I have heard black shows blemishes in body work and I am doing it all my self so I don't want to make it look like crap, also a lot of thirdgens it seems are black I want mine to be a little more unique. as far as the neon green I don't know because I haven't seen a thirdgen in just the right shade of it I am thinking I am not going to do the green though. I was hoping for some other ideas than black.

 

Reshoot it with the original color. It seems the latest trend is to keep these cars as close to original as possible.

Please keep anything neon far, far away from the car.

'84 Berlinetta and my original color is white and I will be repainting it white. I think it
looks awesome with it's smoky grey black interior. Something about keeping it original. Ya I love those wheels too. Good luck choosing.

 

Im a sucker for a stock looking original third gen, I say keep it the factory color. Have any pics of your berlinetta?

 

Here is my Berlinetta. She will be getting new decals. The Berlinetta ones are some kind of plastic in the front and rear that hasn't weathered time well. I'm gonna have the striping put back on as well. I want to keep it as original as possible. I am the first owner of the car. Loved it then, love it now.

 

Ya I would stay away from a neon color on a Berlinetta IMHO. Looks great on a
5th gen.

 

It's your car! If you wanna paint it green with black stripes then do it!

sorry for not replying ive been busy havnt had time to get pics of the berli. berlinetta baby your car looks like its in great condition. I know what you mean about the decals all of my decals and badges were stripped off by I assume the same PO that painted it.

An enamel paint job will only look good for a year or two before it starts fading and getting chalky. If you're keeping the car for a long time do a base/clear urethane.

 

Thanks Nater, actually mine is going in for body work and a paint job very soon. Smart phone cameras tend to make things look better than they really are. Basically the car is rust free but the doors need some body work and the paint is breaking down with microscopic crackles. I am getting it down professionally. Scraping up the bucks.
I like the two colors you are choosing from. I don't think you can go wrong picking one of

As far as styles, please keep it a berlinetta. There are so few left original. Everyone wants to clone an IROC. Fact is it will never be one. I am with the general consensus here on the neon colors, save it for a Honda.

 

I completely agree with that last post. My Berlinetta is unique in our local Camaro club. No one has a digital Berlinetta. Just me.

 

I don't think he has any intention of cloning his car into a Iroc-Z but he did say paint suggestions. I guess my suggestion for paint is a little over the top. Sorry

 

I personally dont like red or cowl hoods. But I love the look of your car Ron go figure. It's scheme works well. I think the heritage stripes blend the cowl in subtlely

 

Thanks, I bought the car for $500.00 and drug it out of some guy’s backyard. I won’t even go into the list of what needed to be replaced. I have put alot of time and effort to get it just right. (as most of us do) It is the first time working on any vehicle to this extent and a lot was done before I was a member here. I have always wanted a car that looks like this and honestly it fits my personality perfectly. And it’s my DD. If I do another I will bring it back to stock. I have gotten the "1/4 mile", "old school"look out of my system.
