Lowering Question

After upgrading brakes and installing the necessary spacers, my front wheels barely clear when turning. Would lowering the car make this problem worse?

Re: Lowering Question

What do you mean by clear? Groung FX or inner fender well?

I just lowered my car 1.75". My car looks like I have a little more clearance on the inner fender well with the aftermarket wheels. Nothing major though, maybe .25-.50 of an inch.

I'm not sure about the ground FX clearance, as this wasn't a problem for me.

An Idea to get a better idea is to have someone drive the car slowly while turning (5mph), then hit the brakes to allow the car to nose dive. While you observe to see if the wheel comes closer to the FX.

Re: Lowering Question

If your talking about the top of the wheel at any point, then yes it will. If you cut your turn stops to install the brake upgrade that is part of the problem, you could be turning your wheels further than they were able to go before. You might want to re learn where to stop the wheel when your cutting in a parking lot, you might not be able to turn the wheel as far is it will go anymore.

Re: Lowering Question

Again if you cut the turn stops on the spindles to do the brake upgrade you might just be turning your wheel too far. The part it is touching is just plastic at any rate. I have had to pull my plastic liners out out cause it's too low, but that will cause a lot of dirt in the area around it.

If you lower the car that part on the wheel will be at a higher point so it will rub a bit more, but again get adjusted to how far you can turn the wheel at slow speeds not a big deal. I have no turn stops, bigger wheels, and a lot more low but I still get around town just fine without rubbing.

Re: Lowering Question

I didn't have to modify the turn stops when installing the brakes. Does removing them have some kinda benefit with a car that's been lowered ?

Re: Lowering Question

No.. most brake kits you have to remove them to install the adapters for the different caliper.

Re: Lowering Question

A little rubbing on the plastic liner is not the end of the world. Only thing you can do is use a slightly thinner adapter/spacer if you have clearance between the strut and tie rod
