Cleaning up engine bay
Cleaning up engine bay
I know its been asked before, and i'm sure its been answered but i couldnt find anything via search bar above....Anyone know of or have a good thread for cleaning up the engine bay look, they look so messy with all the wires and hoses all over. I'm throwing in a 350 this upcoming summer and am looking for any advice i can to clean up the engine bay, since i'll have it emptied to do it easier.
Thanks!

If you're going to leave the radiator overflow tank and washer bottle than use these, scroll down the thread to see them mounted = https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...ml#post5580735

a 4th gen coolant overflow would clean up your engine bay considerably. Here's two threads on the swap. I'd be doing it to my car if it didnt interfere with my CAI.

Hawks also offers these metal tanks that look nice (I think another company makes them also but I forget the name)

relocating your coolant & bluepiss bottles is a great option, provided your paint underneath them is in good shape. Another huge clean-up is to get rid of the coolant diverter valve on the passenger side of the motor. The only drawback is that your A/C will be a little less efficient because you'll be pushing hot coolant through your heater box all the time, but it really cleans up the passenger side of the engine bay. Lastly, just clean and detail everything. The wires aren't so bad looking when everything is clean. Another thing you can do is buy a universal plug wire kit and re-route them. In my case, I ran them under my headers so that they wouldn't cover up my valve covers.
Here's what the bay of my GTA looks like right now. Keep in mind that everything is filthy and covered in dust because I'm still finishing up the installation.

so i was thinking about it also, my car is registered as a "historic" in NJ, which means i no longer need inspection (WOOT!), so i replaced my cat with an electronic cut out (had it swapped anyway, used to only put the cat back in for inspection once every 2 years), but i got to thinking. What other emissions things dont i need under the hood? what would happen if i took out the charcoal canister? and anything else that might help clean it up.
