Barbasol Shaving Cream
BADNBLK (a member on here) has a posting on here where he used Barbasol Shaving Cream as a cleaner for his interior.
I could not believe the results he got, so I wanted to test it on my 23 year old interior of which I'm replacing.
I used one of my rear seat bottoms as a test subject that is really bad off as you can see in the photo.
Vacuumed first, then took a damp rag and wiped the seat.
Applied the Barbasol and scrubbed with a nylon brush then let it sit for 5 minutes.
Vacuumed again.
Came back with warm water and dish detergent and scrubbed the seat again.
Vacuumed.
Then did a final wipe with a damp rag and clean water and vacuumed again.
The whole process took me about 20 minutes.
In the before picture, the brown spots are RUST that has been on there at least 3yrs and the rest is 23yrs of dirt.
Take a good look at the stitching in the vinyl strip in the center of the seat bottom.
Forget overpriced commercial interior cleaners and just grab a can of Barbasol for $1.39!
I used unscented Barbasol, I would suggest getting the scented because your interior will smell like shaving cream.
Great stuff! Thank You BADNBLK!!!!!!!

Great to hear. I wonder if the Gillette shave foam would work any differently because it's typically not as thick. Maybe it'd absorb into the material better.
Who wouldn't want their third gen to smell like Brut? Talk about a lady killer.

Haha. I can't believe I just read this, and that it works! I want the back story for how this was initially tried.

Re: Barbasol Shaving Cream
Badnblk and I just recently gave this advice to a fellow member of a group we both belong to
its amazing how a simple household item cleans so well
not sure who tipped Badnblk off to the Barbasol, but I learned it from my father, when we first got my RS and i was in high school, we tackled the interior, pulled all the seats, we went to the store and i was trying to carefully select an interior cleaner, when my dad walks up and hands me two cans of Barbasol, i looked at him puzzled and he said "just trust me" i found out why i should trust my dad later that day when my interior was minty fresh
you would also be amazed at what the cleaner "soft scrub" can do for old paint at a fraction of the cost for auto brand cutting compounds

Re: Barbasol Shaving Cream
If Barbasol cleans that nasty stuff off of seats, I wonder what it's doing when it's on your face?
Nice tip and thanks for passing it on.
A quick search and it seems like shaving cream is good for a lot of stuff other than shaving.

Re: Barbasol Shaving Cream
Ha! I started this morning, and my carpet was nasty, the dirt was so compacted you could not even see the threads of the carpet in spots.
I put the shaving cream on, worked it in and let it soak in, and was going to use my steam vac to get it out. And then realized I loaned it to my dad, 35 miles away. I got up what I could using resolve and towels, but before I post "after" shots I want to do a treatment with the steam vac.
