Small show yesterday in my hometown. There were only maybe 20 cars. I was the only f-body, period. The guys with the Mustang and the Vette on both sides of me were super cool.
IROCs have a way of staring you down across a parking lot... definitely standing out among the crowd!
I get some people looking in my car and I hear “...it’s an auto...” with a tinge of disappointment..
You must get people psyched and surprised to see a stick in there... I bet people will try to offer you money for it too.. Super cool car!
The winners were
42’ Ford Hotrod flat black with flames
67’ Camaro white, basic and clean
68’ restomod Camaro black with flames & 18” wheels
58’ Fuelie vette
65’ GTO
The 68 Camaro had a crazy paintjob but finger and hand prints ALL over it. Dirty interiors all around, dirty wheels... come on people!
Sounds like a run of the mill generational car show to me. I know precisely how you feel about losing to cars of lesser quality. You almost know from the get-go that you're not going to win anything. Anymore I only enter my Z in a traditional car show if it has decade categories or a larger showing of 80-early 2000's cars. If it's going to be a full daylight commitment AND you have to pay to be in it you want a fair shake.

I hear you... All that detailing time... Its nice to get crowd recognition though and it’s fun to get some good pics while the car is spotless..
I work Saturdays and all the shows that have decade categories are usually on Saturdays.. This was a big cruise night I go to on Wednesdays having a trophy night... A lot of regulars mentioned my car should be a trophy winner, so I gave it my best shot.. I figured for over 200 cars they’d have more than 5 awards... They get a good variety there.. I don’t think the cars were really “judged”... The DJ picked the ones he liked that he could see driving in..
Beautiful... Stands out among the crowd as always!
Thanks man! And I see what you mean about the way the IROC'S "stare you down". I sure get a lot of people that want to talk about IROC'S, share memories, etc
I haven't posted in a while, since my 427 swap I think? This year I added new heads and intake for some extra height. Pics in my albums.....Here I am at St. Dominics Festival, Brookfield, WI
Beautiful weather and location on the water with sailboats opposite the cars...
Everything from Ford Model As to an 86 Ferrari Testarossa to classic muscle... about 100 cars
Awards were:
Most Original: 67 Shelby GT 500 high point restoration
People’s Choice: 57 Bel Air Red
Best Interior: 57 Bel Air Red
Engine Bay: 70 Chevelle SS 454 restoration
Best in Show: 70 Chevelle SS 454 restoration
Emergency Vehicle: 46 Fire Engine
Best Paint: 86 Monte SS Candy Apple Red
Distance Travelled: 71 Olds 442
The guy gave the IROC a shout out when he gave the paint award to the Monte SS... It was up against a Candy Apple 67 Camaro and I was surprised he picked the Monte... He said it took him back to his youth on Revere Beach and there’s a “really nice IROC here too that took him back”
Road trip to Corpus Christi Texas for the “We Got Your Six” Car show. The IROC picked up a 2nd place. That’s the actual owner of the IROC in the center...I just wash it!

Car looks awesome Joe! I really like destination car shows. I sometimes will go to a show just because of the location and that looks like a cool place.
Cars and Coffee yesterday. I only took one pic right after I pulled up. There was a ton of cars and even more spectators there and met and talked to a few guys about the car. Met a guy with a white 89 IROC that needs some help and I may get him to join TGO and my Camaro club.. I talked to another guy that had a red 91 vert he bought new in CA and drove it until the 305 gave out @ 250K! I had people seek me out as to who owns the Z to talk to me about the car. Great morning even with the heat.

I should have gotten some shots of the scenery but I was too busy with the cars! Rockport, MA is a cool little town... Looks like an inland version of Nantucket.. only a 40 min drive for me too!

Sounds like a good show... I had a buddy that moved from Florida at the show yesterday telling people “If you think this is hot you should see what Florida is like!” At least you had the top down, couldn’t be too hot then!

I was at a car show tonight with around 200 cars. There were 3 other IROC'S there besides mine. A flame red 86, a flame red 87, and a black 89. I got a pic of the 87 and the 89, but the 86 got away before I got a pic of it. And then I forgot to even take a pic of my own lol. Here's the 2 i got pics of. Sorry about the blurry pic of the 89, i must have moved when it took the pic and didnt even realize how crappy the pic was until I got home. The 2 flame red cars were original and unrestored. The black 89 had new paint, seat upholstery, and 18" wheels. Nice car
The owner of the 87 told me "I've never seen so many IROC's in one place!" LOL
Went to a nice car show in Galva, Iowa today. Met another cool dude with a white, t-top, 5.7 litre 88 IROC-Z. Come to find out he went to the same high school as me and we knew a lot of the same people.
