Went to the Spring Swap-Meet and Car-Show over at Englishtown Raceway Park this saturday. They had a good turnout of cars, so I was pretty shocked when they called my name for "Top 5 in Show" .
Went and raced the car at Island Dragstrip the very next day (yesterday) and made some "ok" passes. Still have a bit more to go to get to my 11.50 E.T. goal. Drove the car home. Successful weekend with a car show and drag racing back-to-back
I'm not surprised that you got top 5 in show. Just look at your car....it's KILLER!!
thanks man. I appreciate it. Sometimes the older crowd gets grumbly when a newer gen car gets favored over theirs.. and there was a real good turnout of quality rides at this event, so it was cool. Now comes the pick-and-choose between which car events (autox, drag, car show) I have to decide upon every few weeks. Glad winter is gone, as I am sure you and everyone else is too!
The Blue car made its car show debut today. Then had to stop on the way home for a quick picture by a huge mural on the side of a building in Lohrville, IA
JA-MAR Cruise In, Fort Dodge Iowa. I drove the red car, and the dude that helped me on the restoration of the blue car drove it tonight. 20 year old kid that just graduated from an auto body program at a local community college. He had a blast driving it
Took the Iroc to the Norman Legacy Rotary Car Show today in Norman, OK. Great turnout, even with the heat! There was a fellow thirdgen owner there with a red ‘89. Great to see another Iroc out in this area. Was beginning to think I was alone!
Cruise night in NW metro Twin Cities. Not as many cars out this weekend, but still a lot to see. Super hot out. Not many with AC. I cruised in closed window comfort. Nice to have.

Agreed, looks great Saxondale! I always carried a flame for the early cars, as my first was a 1984 Z28. I had the LG4 with a 5 speed, but drove it like an HO!
Went to a show today in Lohrville, Iowa. I was the only Camaro at the entire show of about 75 cars. I thought I was gonna be the only third gen until about an hour into the show, an 89 Formula rolled in with 21k on the clock. Still rolling on the original Gatorbacks. The car had a TON of potential, but has been badly neglected. Still neat to see, and a couple days in a detail shop would have it looking awesome.
The pic makes it look way better. It had brake dust embedded in the front wheels that had turned to rust, and zoom in on the front fender....there are stains in the clearcoat from something being splashed on it. It had wax all over the black plastic on the bumpers, etc. The guy who owns it is probably in his mid 70's. His sister bought it new and she died 3 years ago and he ended up with the car. It COULD look like a new car again, just needs a lot of love. The engine bay was absolutely filthy. It's an LO3 car and had a huge rust ring around the air cleaner lid. Hopefully the car will get in the right hands someday. It definitely deserves to be back to her former glory
The rear spoiler looks like brand new. Not a single crack, anywhere, which surprised me.
My youngest daughter and I brought out the iron today for a car show in Humboldt, IA. There's also an 83 Daytona Pace Car Trans Am here that's for sale. A 76k mile 1987 IROC-Z rolled in near the end of the show. He's supposed to be bringing that car to our body shop to have it completely repaiinted
That’s great! Thanks. I park in back to keep it shaded. Except this quieter Sunday where it’s out front to help us represent. However not a street machine. Smogged 305 and no limited slip. Yet a blast to drive. Go figure.
How was the turnout? I looked for pics or videos but cant seem to find any. Would love to have made this show, but had to work..
About 30 3rd gens. A bit lighter turnout than usual, but the event was rescheduled twice due to weather. I think you can only reschedule so many times before folks make other plans. But it was fun, nonetheless.
I spent the day at a nice car show in Carroll, IA. I was in the 1980-2000 stock class and got 2nd place. I got beat by a yellow, 2000 Plymouth Prowler. There were a few other third gens there. Here's some pics
Almost everywhere at the show was in the shade...except the area where i got parked lol Coming home with some hardware This GTA got 3rd place This 21k mile Formula was there today and had a TON of detailing done to it since i saw it last weekend. Looked WAAAYYYY better!!
Attended the Canadian River Cruisers car show today in Norman, OK. Great turnout, even with the near 100 degree temps (approx 200 cars). Had entered in the 1980 and newer Camaro category, which was won by a 2020 ZL1 car and second went to a’99 SS convertible. My Iroc did win the kids choice trophy however. Don’t know what that says, but I’ll take it! Was my first outing since installing the Hawks 17 inch replica wheels, love ‘em. Also threw on a vintage Oklahoma license plate to round it out. Only one other Iroc there, a red ‘89. Outside of that there was an ‘87 Grand National as the only other ‘80s era cars represented.

Thanks Dagwood! Wish you were a little closer to me. I’d turn you loose on my Iroc for some minor paint work that I need done.
I have been funneling $ to my ‘black ops’ car fund for the Hawks wheels (and some tires) since they were released. Was finally able to pull the trigger on them late last month. For anyone on the fence regarding these wheels, I highly recommend them.
Thank God for A/C and cruise ins being late in the evening right now. 95 deg temps this weekend. No other Thirdgens closest thing was a very cool 80 model
Cars For Cures Auto Show in Moore, OK today. Another hot one (temperature wise), but had an excellent turn out. I would say they were pushing at least 250+ cars when all was said and done. Took these photos upon my arrival, before things got busy & more crowded! Was great to see another thirdgen there (black Z28 pictured). I wanted to speak with the owner, but never caught them around the car. Oh well. 80’s car representation included my ‘88 Iroc and the black Z28, a couple of C4 Corvettes (including a stunning all original blue ‘84 model), an SVO Mustang and an ‘84 Hurst Olds. I would say that the 80’s era love is severely lacking in my part of the country, but I’m doing my part to represent!
