Me and an old friend of mine at a cruise in over the weekend with these old Pontiacs. Took Peoples Choice on this one. We've had fun getting out there with these cars. Used to no one stopped to notice Third gens but that's different now.
Second year of attending the Mustang, OK car show. Got second in my class this year (they added a Firebird class, so I wasn't competing against Camaro's this time). A little warm but had a good time with over 200 cars in attendance.
I can imagine the beautiful lines of those cars...but sure can't see them with the hoods open!
thats always a win/loose situation at car shows. Sometimes I like seeing cars with the hoods closed and in true form, but as someone who likes to see modified mechanicals of cars, I like to see hoods open too. At shows, I leave my hood open.

You'd be surprised at how many folks have never seen a tuned port engine. I've seen more than a few spectators do a double-take as they walk by; cracks me up. But I definitely agree that the car looses some curb appeal with the hood up.
Let the Few who prefer ABSOLUTLY NOT TRULY SEEING the cars beautiful lines, ask to see the engine.
The vehicle's styling is COMPLETLY OBSCURED with the apertures(hood, deck lid, doors) open!
You almost never see open hoods, in car museum's dealer showrooms, new car brochures, posters of our cars from the era when STYLING was unique! Gone forever! Styling done unfettered by emission, crash safety, pedestrian safety, squeezing ever last mile out of a gallon of gas.
I Split The Difference I Leave The Hood Open For Half The Show Closed For The Other Half
I actually think the show officials, should consider having a "Hoods Open Option", say between 50 minutes past the hour, to "Straight UP" (the start of the NEXT hour).
Cars n coffee this morning. As you can see I wasn’t the only one…
I was there too, early in the morning from 7:30 - 9:30 (did not have my car there) and only saw one 3rd gen - I heard they were expecting over 2500 cars
Folks go to cars shows, mostly to admire and reminisce about the beautiful cars, who’s styling was not compromised, by a myriad of safety, mileage, emissions and other regulations.
it is a shame so many cars are displayed with open hoods, preventing viewers from appreciating the beautiful STYLING !
A vehicles lines are broken and obscured, with the hood open. That intake is a nice piece, but so what.
I notice at the many cars shows I attend, less than 10% of folks even look at the engine. What our older cars have , over the more capable newer vehicles, is STYLE!
Yes, STYLE, lines and shapes not constricted by all the safety, emissions, CAFE, PEDESTRIAN SAFETY, fuel economy, legal, goals and rules.
This weekend, Harbourside Place on Jupiter. I haven't been to a show in awhile and my buddy tagged along with his car. Nice place for a show, it's on the water with a few bars and restaurants to hang out in.
