NOT MY CAR, But look how much better any car looks photographed with the HOOD CLOSED. (My 1989 IROC Z Vert LB( 305 TPI/ AT was built like my post and will look like it, after paint, upholstery and new top)
This coming from a guy who built his first engine the EARLY 70'S.
I do agree with you and my car does also... here it comes...BUT this is a car show and I have put alot of work into my engine detail so I want to show that off. If this was a photo shoot that hood would not be open until it was time to photograph the engine.

First show of the year (and first since the TKX swap). 104 cars in attendance; got a trophy for first in my class. And yes, that's me, all wrapped up. High 40s with wind chill in the mid 30s. Just now getting thawed out! And there was actually another third gen Firebird entered!

Too bad we can not enjoy that great styling, with the darn HOOD and open!
It’s a love it or hate it style. It is why I bought this particular car besides the 82-84 body style. But if I had to do it again I’d lean toward an ‘82 with the Conteur option. Actually probably an ‘82 Trans Am.
No clean engine bay, IMO, surpasses to GREAT Styling, of our "older" cars! Also, that styling can not be appreciated, with hoods and or trunks open. It just obscures the look. Car Museum RARELY display car with open apertures!

This photo is a Classic Example of how one can really see and admire the STYLING of the cars, when the open HOOD does not break up the lines! STYLING no longer POSSIBLE, due to restraints...fuel milage, passenger safety, pedestrian safety, streamlined manufacturing, etc. I know the whole "engine" thing, I have built engines since 1973.
You rarely see cars in nice museums with the hood open.
Attended the United Way/Valero car show in Ardmore OK on August 5th. About 70 cars there and I was able to snag a top 20 trophy. Had the only Thirdgen there and the only 80’s vehicle outside of some squarebody pickups. Between the extreme heat we’ve been having lately, the rain in the early show season and trying to split the other shows I attend with my C4, I’ve only been able to get the Iroc to a few here and there. Hopefully I’ll have better luck this fall! Anyhow, snapped this photo of a 1990 Testarossa too, which is a rare bird in these parts. Enjoy!
