Attended the Tri-City Cruisers annual car show yesterday (7 May) in Newcastle, OK. Excellent turnout with over 320 vehicles entered. I had the only thirdgen f-body car at the show, which kind of surprised me given the number of overall entries. The only other 80’s era cars in attendance was a 1984 Hurst Olds and 4 fox body Mustangs (including an unrestored original 1984 SVO). I’ve included a picture of those two along with mine. Enjoy!
Observe how much nicer the Firebird with the closed hood looks, compared to the one w/ the open hood!
I get the engine thing and have built engines since I was a teenager. BUT to really appreciate a cars lines, CLOSE EM UP!
I can take show cars either way. But personally, while my engine compartment is quite clean and almost all original (except for battery and alternator), it's not "pretty" in a show car sense. So I always show it with the hood down.

I am the opposite. Keep my hood up 90% of the time.
Why, topduarte?
Hoods are closed in museums, brochures, automotive art. The best thing about older cars, was the great styling, not encumbered by CAFE fuel mileage standards , safety, emission, pedestrian injury and other govt. standards. I say, SHOW the best thing about our vintage cars...STYLING!
I always enjoy looking at nice engines whether stock or not. More to a car than outward appearance. Hate to see a beautiful car with a mess under the hood.
Pontiac Oakland Club International Chapter #16 Michigan Widetracker's 33rd annual Spring Dust-Off.
My T/A on the right, TGO member OKFOZ with the Formula 350 convertible on the left, and a non-forum member (though I think he's going to stop by and check the place out) in the middle with a Formula coupe (we had all three roof style represented).

2 members = 2 photos.
Your car showed really nice, congrats on the win... I found it funny that all of the cars were Red, and there was a convertible, T-top and hard top.
A little lonely in this photo...the group pulls out about 8:30pm to head out to Woodward. And this photo is at about 8:45! I was having fun talking to people, including the guy in the Merkur behind me.

Golling Buick GMC Charity Car Cruise. This dealer does a lot to support our club, so we always try to return the favor by attending their cruise nights. Not that I wouldn't anyway, because it's a great location, and local.
Here, 3 red cars line up for photos that will appear in a future issue of Cruis'n Magazine. Left to right, club member Steve and his Fiero, a red Vette, my T/A, and Doug and Diane's red 4th gen T/A.
LibertyFest car show in Edmond, OK on June 25. Lost out to a 1998 Viper GTS and 1985 Buick Grand National. Yes, that's the category in which I was placed (1980 to 1999 car).
Thanks. Only one other third gen there (1982 Z28) out of over 200 vehicles. I got quite a bit of attention, though, as these cars are quite rare around here. Heard lots of "I had one of those back in the day."

Dave, great seeing you last weekend!!!
I would have done the Michigan F-body meet, where was that and when? Maybe next year... BTW, I got a Judges Choice award at the Bakers show last weekend... Surprised me as there were a lot of nice cars there...

Hi John. Yes, it was nice running into you and your son again. After dashing through the lot to grab a picture of each car, you know I had to come back and check out that beautiful yellow Formula! No surprise to me that it won an award. It's a fantastic looking car.
I'm not sure exactly what date the Michigan F-body (MIFB) Meet & Greet will be next year. There was a time when it was on a consistent weekend, and held at Baker's in Milford. They moved to The Hub in Auburn Hills for a few years, then stopped holding the show during Covid. This was the first year back, and meant to be back at The Hub. Some difficulties in doing that lead to it being held at Heidebreicht Chevrolet in Washington Township this time. Due to the last minute venue change, the date moved. Not sure if it will stay on that new date, or move back? And I'm assuming that going forward it will stay at Heidebreicht. We'll see. I have some more photos from that show here.
