Annual Freedom Fest show in my hometown over the wkend. Actually had 6 Third gens present!
I don't think I have ever been to a show with 6 Third Gens there. Usually it's me and maybe one other, if I'm lucky.
I find it interesting who parks next to you at shows. I feel like I get the most interesting things parking next to me. A Datsun at the last show and before that, the Stanley Steamer. Just cool, different stuff.
Nice selection of third gens. The 4X4 wouldn't be my choice (not judging) but I respect the other guys choices and the fact that he takes care of it and it shows. Good for him. It's good to see all the cars out.
Beautiful car. Of all the Thidgens ive driven, the HO 5spd 3.73 combo was the most enjoyable ive had the experience of driving. Id love to own one if I ever get a chance.

try a GTA with TPI and 5 speed. even more fun!
Beautiful car tho! love the color combo!
Trophy Night at the big Wednesday Cruisin’ The Tree.. hundreds of cars, 5 trophies and it was one 50s car and four 60s cars.. Best in show was a 65 GTO
Even put the stock radio back in.. Not so bad with the tape adapter..
Best in Show Winner

Thanks man! I took a bunch of pics because I really detailed the hell out of the car. I figured I’d give it a good shot to win a trophy. Put the stock radio back in, Put the GM floormats in for the show, had a display with the original trim sheet, info on the car, original dealer brochure, owners manual and old IROC print ads.. A guy and his kid came over from the mall because he said he saw the car pull in and he walked about a football field to check it out.. The DJ’s assistant came over too.. The IROC had a steady crowd around it the whole show.. I thought I’d win something, especially seeing the dust and cobwebs on some of the 50s and 60s cars.. but nope, no win for the IROC.. They really need an 80s and 90s category because there were some really nice cars that just get overlooked for the same old, same old.. Classic status is 25 years which is 1994!

Its fun to put on a good show trophy or not..
If you want to win a trophy at one of those shows your car needs some changes because:
1) It's not a '69 Camaro.
2) It's not a '69 Camaro painted red.
3) It's not a '69 Camaro painted red with ugly aftermarket wheels..

The winners were
42’ Ford Hotrod flat black with flames
67’ Camaro white, basic and clean
68’ restomod Camaro black with flames & 18” wheels
58’ Fuelie vette
65’ GTO
The 68 Camaro had a crazy paintjob but finger and hand prints ALL over it. Dirty interiors all around, dirty wheels... come on people!

what color was the vette? sorry just dreaming.. 1958 was my fav year and a fuelie no less
I think it's a beautiful car.
If you don't want to paint it red, we could at least put flames on it since two of the top five cars had flames. Kidding...just kidding!
I personally like your Iroc and your C4 better than that bird sg%#+ colored GTO. I love GTOs but 68 and later.
Ha ha... Thanks! I do have a soft spot for stacked light GTOs but I know a guy who has a 66 that is concourse flawless with the nicest black paint I’ve ever seen and is still very original looking.. All others sort of pale in comparison..
I was more into this car than the winners, but I’m weird..

I thought flames were cool when I was 10... I grew out of it.. ha ha

You are guaranteed a trophy if you come in with a never cleaned engine compartment and hit it with a can of tire foam after you park.

It's a Calloway Twin-turbo. I can totally understand. back in the 80s that was a dream car. 200mph supercar corvette if I recall. I wanted a Lambo more back then but the calloway would be a more reliable car you could use as a daily driver.

That’s a Calloway ZR1 too... 500hp.. I remember seeing those in magazines and never thought I’d see one in real life... You could order them from dealers and there was an RPO code.. guy had the window sticker too, was fascinating..
The 88 Sledgehammer Calloway made was 878hp and did 254mph.. That is nuts... And him and Lingenfelter drove the car from CT to Ohio to test it... That car is figured to be worth $800k-$1mm and is in a private collection and also no longer considered street legal though it was at the time..

Small show yesterday in my hometown. There were only maybe 20 cars. I was the only f-body, period. The guys with the Mustang and the Vette on both sides of me were super cool.

My son would have been all over that El Camino, he loves those old ones!

That one in particular is a good one to love! It is straight as an arrow, and has an absolute killer paint job. It was the first time I had ever seen the car and I was super impressed.

Your car stands out nicely...maybe the angle of the shot but it just looks good!
