May 2015 COTM **WINNER**

Clean resto-mod looks, the right stance, the right wheels, beautiful paint - show car looks and twin turbo power; this car seems to have it all. Congratulations to 89JYturbo for being voted by the Third Gen Community as May 2015's Car of the Month. This modified '89 IROC is one of the nicest builds on TGO.

I hope we will here from this month's winner to give us more details on this car.

congratulations [and thank you] to our other Nominee, Orr89RocZ - not only for his continuing patient and competent technical advice given to myself and other members over the years, but also for nominating this month's winner, 89JYturbo, thus giving us a contest this month.

Well deserved! 89jyturbo is an Old time member here and had one of the first twin turbo setups i ever seen in a thirdgen here on this site. Was the reason i got into turbos and built mine!

Re: May 2015 COTM **WINNER**
Hey everybody, thanks a lot for the support. I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, I had no idea that I could even be eligible for this award, especially since my car is just a work in progress at this point. I'm getting close, maybe I should try to get it completed during the month of May as a way of saying thank you!
Also, I guess I need to change some settings so that I get an e-mail notification for private messages!

This is a link to the turbo system build thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...win-turbo.html
AND many thanks to Orr89 for the nomination and support! My car will not compete with his on the drag strip, I don't even have a roll bar in it (yet) and I don't foresee 4 digit power for a long time. Its funny how he said my original set-up inspired him, because it was his first turbo system (the one with the turbos sticking out through the hood) that inspired me to redo mine. I guess the old saying is true, "what goes around comes around"!

Linson, has there been any thought about putting a link to the voting for COTM on the home page? I think there needs to be more awareness over this and making it easier for people to find how to vote without searching the forums for the nomination and voting posts. I'm just disappointed we only had 2 nominees and low votes cast out of 10's of thousands of members here.

Here are some better exterior shots I took today. It was a very nice day to have it out. I'm glad I can drive it in these final stages of the build, but I'm ready for boost!

Some guys at work commented on that hood too. Looks good. So do those rims. They're 19's right? What size are the tires?

The wheels and tires are 18".
The hood is actually my original hood my friend modified with the raised center and he hand built the NACA ducts. I can't take credit for the body work or paint. I don't have patience for that. I only have patience as long as I have a wrench, welder, torch or plasma cutter in my hands!

Re: May 2015 COTM **WINNER**
I copied the external appearance of my car from another member on here, CrazyHawaiian (paint color and wheels/tires).
These are the specs he gave that I copied:
Front Wheel Boyd Coddington "Tuned" 18x8 w/ 4.5" Backspacing
Front Tire Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position 245/40/yr18
Rear Wheel Boyd Coddington "Tuned" 18x9.5 w/ 5.5" Backspacing
Rear Tire Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position 275/40/yr18
Thanks to him for those specs, they really fit well.
