Well, considering that my father-in-law paid $1500 for my '84 Camaro, it sounds like a good deal, especially for a project car. New engine, or rebuilt engine? If rebuilt, make sure that whomever rebuilt it knew what they were doing.

why put in a new engine then sell would be my question to him? And for only $1000.00? Would a new engine done right cost more than $1000.00 by itself?

well first thing first is it a factory Z28 or did he "convert" i to a Z28?? does it have t tops?? 350 or 305 doesnt matter, i mean it does but it wont make or break the deal contrary to what others may think. Is it a 5 spd or auto?? if its an auto make sure he didnt rig in a TH350 tranny, those suck u loose overdrive. Also see how much truth is in this rebuilt motor.......im not buying it a rebuilt motor with 104 k on it?? if this is the case its no longer a new motor and if it only has 104 miles on it than why wouyld he sell the whole car for what the motor its self is worth, internal motor work isnt cheap. Just make sure its solid with t tops before u go doing n e thing, also make sure its never been repainted especially to a color that alters what came from the dealer. Chances are on a car that cheap thats been repainted there will be a lot of glass on it.......and whatever u do make sure it hasnt been hit......im not sayin go through it with a fine tooth comb just watch the obvious.......

Ok heres the deal it is an 88 camaro With t-tops,automatic transmission,it is the origional engine but it was rebuilt not sure when though and i think the speedometer was at like 138,000 miles so it must ave been like that before he rebuilt it cause i think it ws rebuilt recently i saw the car for like 5 minutes but im pretty sure the paint is original but its gonna have to be repainted cause it is all faded and it is striping away also there is a few ust spots and dents and will probably need a new back bumper cause it is cracked thats prettty much all i know im gonna go take it for a drive tommorow and we will see what happens

People say that a color change dont make a difference but it really does, it ruins the intregrity of the car, on top of that u need to start having titles changed to accomidate the new color ect....... as long as its not pink, purple or brown a freshly repainted thirdgen camaro in n e color will look nice. Also may i recomend taking the car into a professional? i mean it may just be me but ud probably have the car done in less time and might even be cheaper to just have someone paint the car rather than take classes to do it your self. A nice repaint shouldnt cost u more than 1500 provided its a relatively solit car........BTW u can always tell a professional paint job from a backyard one no pun intended what so ever

to nest i have no money to get a new paint job and if i did i wouldnt have money to do anything else to the car but i took the auto body calss last month and i did my g/f car who had some rust and a few dents and it came out great ad plus the guy who runs the class has een doing auto body for a long time and he helps alot so i think i should be alright with it if not the cars only 1000 bucks and its not like im paying for it my dad isim not looking to make the car into a drag car or anything i just want it to look nice.

im sure it would look alright but if u plan on keeping the car very long at all id highly recomend having it done, if u have to let the car sit for 6 months while u make the money at work than so be it, a grand isnt that hard to come up with especially living at home. 6 months is WAAAYYYY over rated but u know what im sayin. take my advice i have been through thirdgens and i know

well thats great man! welcome to the thirdgen world! is the car TBI or TPI? u wil get alot or critisism if its a TBI becosue from the factory the arent quite as fast as TPI, i know i have both. the TBI has a nicer torque curve but the tpi has way more overall power. I have waxed alot of thirdgens in my 85 TPI powered trans am but a TBI can be quite impressive though with smart mods. the red one in the sig is a TBI and by rights is should be dog slow but with a 59000 mile car with a 5 spd and a 3.73 posi rear end she will move out nicely, first thing first clean thie **** out of it, go to the dealer and get a product called vynal touch, its a cleanser that removes all dirt where as products like armorall just leave a greasy film. use it on the carpet and seats as well, get a full can from the GM dealer near u and u should use it up when u detail it. If u havent its not clean enough. then do the basics like get it running right and do a full tune up, cap/rotor/wires/plugs and get somethign like a dynomax cat back for it, i have it on my 85 trans am and i got it for like 161 after tax and it sounds great and deffinetly gave the car something. U dont need a 300$ flowmaster or a borla or n e thing.

Hey, congrats man. I always like to buy myself a christmas present. I paid $900 for my car and the pic below is one when i first got it. It ran fine, had some bolt ons, like intake, carb, distributor, and holley fuel pump, but i've changed all that. Don't worry about getting a new title, i would only do that if you are trying to make a show car out of it. Lets see some pics. Later

than replace your tires
than replace your tranny
than replace your rear end
than replace your motor

ect.....

its always fun to play aroun a bit but when rebuilding u dont want to beat up your car or else u start working against yourself
