TB plate ?:What have I done?!?!? Please help!!!
I took off the TB cover plate to clean it up and repaint it(I like the plain 'Tuned Port Injection' more than these other ones). Well, then I could see into the intake(I think) and noticed it has a gasket/seal on it. Well, the gasket is all hard and stuff and some of it broke off. Where can I get a new one? Do I really need it(I think I do)? PLEASE, someone help! I'm freaking out here...
dont freak out my man, easy fix, either replace the gasket (found at most auto parts places) or install that airfoil which you have to remove the cover to do so. I bought mine off of ebay and it came with the gasket, so dont sweat it

I already have an airfoil, it didn't need to take the cover off to install it. So I can just pick up this gasket at Pep Boys or something?
The TB cover is where coolant runs through the TB to keep the TB from freezing up in the winter. I did the TB bypass (which can be found in the Tech Articles at the beginning of the site) and I've never had any problems nor has anyone else I've talked that has done it. So my point is if you've been thinking about doing the TB bypass you don't need the gasket anyway because there is no coolant running through the TB.

Do you have any idea where to get it though? I may have to order it from the dealer if I can't find it... I live in Oklahoma, and I think I might need that for the cold winters, but I'll prolly try that mod during the summer

The top plate needs a descent seal on it because the passage inside supplies vacuum to the little port (where the EGR & EVAP are connected)on the bottom side of the TB. If you can't find the gasket, most part stores sell gasket paper so you can make your own. It beats having to order one (unless they have them in stock) from the dealer.
I guess I might be wrong but I didn't think there was any vacuum inside that part of the TB
Then what prevents water from getting suck up into the vacuum lines deadbird? Or are you saying the whole top part is for vacuum and the coolant doesn't run throught the upper part if the TB?

Jobryan,, coolant runs thru the bottom, thru a small passage around the IAC only (bottom pic, red arrow).

I know it's a crappy pic but, as you can see how the vacuum routes down to that little port (upper pic, red arrow). If you were to look in the TB with the blades fully open, you'd see a tiny square hole that the throttle blades half cover when closed (depending on how they are adjusted).
Hope that clears things up a little better for ya.
