86 IROC Zaino'd
Just got the car last night and took a clay bar to it, bed at 2am then up at 7am to begin Zaino layers.
Still got another 2 layers to do tomorrow of Z2... better pics coming soon
Does anyone use a dual action rotary?
Z5 swirl remover said light presssure was fine so I did that stage by hand wondering if I should have used the DA.
The stripes are decals so not sure if I'm gonna keep em. They're not perfect with some chips on edges.

Nice car(s). I agree about the decals - they look a little busy and confusing with the louvers.

Just an FYI, Z5 is a filler and has no abrasives to remove swirls.

I pulled out my Thirdgen Nationals t-shirt the other day, weren't you the one that designed the logo?

Holy Crap!! Mark's back!!
To remove swirls in the paint, you'll want to use something like Meguiar's 105 or 205, Wolfgang's swirl remover with an orange Lake Country pad on speed 6 of the Porter Cable DA orbital. Then you can go over it again with a polish on a white pad. The final finish is by hand or with a grey/black pad for your top coat.

Actually for swirls, use the 205 and a white pad. 105 is going to cut the paint too much for swirls and will have to be finished with 205 anyway. Many cars can use something even finer than the 205 - Menzerna 4500 and a black pad for example.

Re: 86 IROC Zaino'd
I've used the 205 with a white pad and it did not remove the swirls. I needed the orange pad and that provided a near perfect finish. My recommendation for 105 or 205 was based on how bad the swirls are. Since we don't know how bad the paint really is, he can decide which to use based on his finish.
Here's mine when finished.

I'm a big fan of 105 and 205.
You won't use 105 often, but it does the job.

Re: 86 IROC Zaino'd
It's all done. I used the Zaino PC product or whatever the one is that is the abrasive one.
Car looks great, but there's some orange peel on the doors that is beyond my level of skill.
Now just waiting on tires to arrive and should be on the road soon.
