I've got a friend who has a '85 firebird. For the most part he could careless what it looks like, as it's made to be a drag car only. The front nose clip however has the black bubble things. They are also located on the back bumper. I noticed Fyrbird does not have these. Is there a certain year they canceled them? Or a certain model?

it was most likely an 85 up transam...85-90 do not have the grille inserts...85-90 firebirds and formula's have the grille inserts...and 82-84 have the huge grille inserts..like my car ...dammit what i meant was...its most likely either a formula...or a reg fbird...85-90

Yea,
They had those on 85-89 Base firebirds and formulas. The T/A 's had the Big low ones with the GFX.

but yeah... 82-84 had those ugly vent lookin things...

85-90 base/formula had the black things
85-90 T/A GTA had no black things and ground effects

Yep, that's what I was looking for. I guess I've got to help him find a T/A front end and T/A rear bumper (his has them on the rear as well) before he paints it next month.

 

You'll have to help him find all of the TA ground effects as well because the nose of the car and the bumper are lower on the TAs than on the reg. firebirds (pretty sure..but not 100%)
