March 2018 COTM **Winner**

Congratulations, LsxMatt! Your awesome LSX powered '86 Camaro is TGO's March, 2018 Car of the Month.

There is just nothing not to love about this car, and it's another story of humble beginnings leading to Third Gen greatness.

Congratulations on a well deserved win against some very strong competition, evident by the closeness of the votes.

I am very proud to have the community represented by car, that through both form and function, so perfectly showcases what Third Gens can do.

You can see everything in depth if you check of my base to bad build thread! Though I am still working on it. All the work was done myself, excluding the dyno tuning and spraying of the paint. I did all the body work, priming, blocking and color sanding. Maaco just sprayed the base and clear.

Here is the list of engine, body, suspension, and interior mods:

LM7 5.3 engine with f body accessories and sensors.
799 heads milled down .030.
Comp trunion bearing upgrade.
Comp hardened push rods.
LS9 head gaskets.
ARP head studs.
Speed engineering 1 3/4 long tube headers.
SLP Loudmouth 2 muffler with custom hidden single outlet.
Fast 102 intake and throttle body.
Stock ls1 injectors,(soon to be changed).
Stock 3rd gen radiator.
LS1 puller fans.
12 inch dual pusher fans for additional A/C cooling.
1992 Z28 Ground FX, hatch, and rear spoiler.
Goodmark 2 inch steel cowl hood.
Aerocatch locking hood pins.
1992 Z28 Dash and Instrument Cluster.
Jegs Weld in 8 point cage, (installed as a 6 point for street reasons)
Corbeau FX1 Pro fixed back Seats with harnesses.
1994 Cavalier steering wheel.
1992 Z28 Door panels.
Front lip parking camera hidden behind grill.
MGW T-56 short throw shifter.
1997 Camaro Posi disk rear with aftermarket 3.73 gears.
Koni yellow adjustable shocks.
Eibach Pro springs.
Poly motor and transmission mounts.
Ground Control weight jacks for the rear(have parts need to install).
Poly panhard bar and LCA bushings.
UMI LCA relocation brackets for the rear.
UMI LS motor mount adapters.
UMI Weld in subframe connectors.
UMI Wonder Bar.
Delrin greasable front LCA bushings.
Z28 2.5 turn steering box.
Astro van steering shaft.
Gen 1 CTS-V front Brembo brakes with braided hoses.
4th gen master cylinder and factory prop valve delete.
Mcleod twin disk clutch.
Tick Performance adjustable clutch master cylinder.
18x9.5 C5 Corvette wheels.
275/35/18 front tire and 275/40/18 in the rear.
New Firestone Firehawk tires.

I think thats everything! But yea, I'm probably missing a few things. My car put down 350rwhp and 350 rqtq on a Mustang dyno. My injectors are currently maxed out. You can tell my motor was put together for boost, and I recently picked up a 5th gen ZL1 blower that will be going on this spring. Good luck to everyone else competeing for COTM!

Re: March 2018 COTM **Winner**

Wow I am absolutely honered to have won Cotm! When I first bought car, I never imagined it to ever be nice enough to even get nominated! Also the voting this month was sooooo close, I was sure one of the other guys had it in the bag. Alot of clean cars this month!

Also the interior shot above isn’t of my car. That’s the interior of Ja85Z28’s car I believe.

And I have much more to post on my build thread, so be on the look out! Ill be getting into the body work soon.

Awesome, voted for ya. I stumbled across your youtube as I was looking at doing the CTSV supercharger on to my LS1, and was glad to see you're on here.

Always wanted a Camaro in that exact colour as well!

Congratulations Matt!! Very deserving car, a ton of your time, money, and work went into it you can easily see.
Congratulations to all 4 cars this month, that was a come from behind, very close race. I was watching the numbers and Matt really broke out from behind on the last stretch to home.

Thanks for the support everyone! Got some more pics! A buddy took all the really high quality pics like the ones with the red SS. The rest I took. The one below is from the original craigslist posting when I bought the car! Also I'm reallllyy on the fence about whether I wanna go back to the black wheels or not. What do you guys think?

We only went up against each other on street tires, but I won. But now he's done some mods plus drag radials, so he'll definitely beat me. This was at the strip though, never did any highway rolls. His car's a manual too. I really need to ditch that 10 bolt...

Damn, I was going to compliment you on that nice steering wheel.

I like your idea of no stock hood latch and those hood pins you have. Got a link to them?
Great job on your car. Congrats.

I choose the one on the right.

I fixed that. It’s the correct car’s interior shot now.

Those hood pins look great.

I know its a bit late, but congrats on your deserved win.
I think your car looks cleaner and sharper with the wheels in silver.
Love the pic of 5th gen and 3rd nose to nose, notice how the wiper is showing on the 5th and the 3rd is neatly tucked away? and how the 3rd gen is the lower of the two cars yet has more ground clearance??

Thanks! Lmao wow I never even noticed that..I feel like my ground clearance sucks, but I can't believe the front of the 5 gen hangs lower! His car has lowering springs as well.

Thanks, yea I'm considering re-dipping them. The whole car is all black and blue, so the black wheels match very well.
