July 2018 COTM **Winner**
Congratulations, Manic Z! Your 1985 IROC is our TGO July, 2018, COTM Winner.
This was another beautiful group of cars, and as it happens, the margin of victory here was by a single vote - my own. There's not a damn thing wrong with Ja85z28's '85 Z28, and these cars are so similar in quality and configuration that it simply came down to a couple of personal preferences. I like your seats. The "good stereo" probably increases the "fun factor".
Your '85 IROC underscores the unique design that these cars had which has not since been matched. It also shows that a Third Gen can be neither an LS swapped or turbocharged monster, nor even a bone stock time capsule, and still be awesome.
Congratulations and well done! Much deserved COTM win.
My car is an 85 that orginally came with an LG4, T5, and 3.23 rear gears. It's a Canadian car, so no computer. Made it a prime candidate for modifying. I bought it in 96 during my first year of college.
My plan for modifying it was to basically mimic the GM Performance Parts ZZ3 350 HO conversion that they offered, but to do it with the Canadian emissions equipment.
Car runs real hard, with a quickest mph of 117 mph in the quarter mile. I don't get to drive it as often as I used to, what with a new house and baby on the way, but when I do, I can't get the grin off my face.
List of parts on the car:
350 bored and stroked with hyper pistons
RHS pro action 200cc aluminum heads
Weiand action plus dual plan aluminum intake
Comp 286 magnum hydraulic roller cam
Crane silver roller rockers
Quadrajet rebuilt
L69 dual snorkel air cleaner with K&N air filter
Hedman shorty headers
Flowmaster Ypipe
Flowmaster American Thunder 80 series catback
T5 rebuilt
Energy Suspension mount
Pro 5.0 shifter
1LE aluminum driveshaft
10 bolt rebuilt
MAC girdle
Richmond 3.73 gears
Detroit TruTrac
QA1 sway bars
Lakewood rear lower control arms
Herb Adams panhard bar
TDS wonder bar
KYB AGX front struts and rears shocks
Suspension Techniques springs
UMI Torque arm
Alston subframe connectors
Founders rear control arm relocation brackets
C4HD 13" front brakes
LT1 11.5" rear brakes
17x8 front iroc wheels
17x9.5 rear iroc wheels
245/45/17 Yokohama Sdrive front tires
275/40/17 Yokohama Sdrive rear tires
84 Camaro HO gauge cluster
5500 redline tachometer
Z28 logo 140 mph speedometer

Thank you everyone for the nice compliments. It really was cool to watch the back and forth voting this month, right down to the literal last minute, and beyond with Linson being the tie breaker.
Thanks to those that nominated me, those that voted for me, to the other COTM nominees, and to those that participate in the COTM threads month after month.
As I mentioned in the voting thread, I've loved these cars since I was a teenager (over 20 years ago lol), and am still so passionate about them.
Let's keep having fun with them!
