Like the title says, post pictures of your Formulas! I dont believe there is a Formula only thread yet. All 3rd Gens are pretty badass, but to me there is just something about the way a Formula looks compared to the others. Lets see them!
@Drew
Sorry. I typed Formula/Pictures and a few other combos into the search bar and didnt see that. But seeing that the last post in that thread was from 2005 I think this is ok. I guess I couldve brought that one back if I had found it. Again, my apologies.
@BizJetTech
Those all look really clean. I wish I wouldve waited to find a 350 but the search for a clean Formula in the right color, t-tops and a 350 was really tough.
And are the wheels on the white Formula polished and the red Formula stock?

The bright red one has original wheels that were powder coated gray (done by previous owner) not my thing but looks OK
The white one has original wheels (not polished)
Really nice looking cars so far. I used to really dislike the 91-92 bumpers, but over the years they have definitely grown on me. Those bumpers seem to go really good with the 4th gen spoiler swap...imo.
Thanks! The rims are black GTA wheels not a stock option in that year. It had the stock rims on when I bought it, and i like them but I thought the GTA rims looked better.
Your car "looks" like it's a 1990 with 1987 wheels.....is that correct??
or is it a 1987 with 1990 air intake??
Thanks for all the compliments. It's a 1990 with 1987 wheels. I always preferred the convex-style wheels, although I have the original wheels (with the original VR50 tires) in storage. Car is still under 18,000 miles. I did the Classic Air R134a conversion as the original compressor had blown seals when I bought it and summers here in Oklahoma really make it preferable to have a functioning A/C. Thought about just replacing the compressor, but then you get into the "what refrigerant to use?" and it can kinda snowball on you. Decided to bite the bullet and replace it all, though the evap was pristine and probably could have been reused. Everything I have taken off the car is in storage, so it could all be put back original. The tuned port conversion, while nothing like an engine swap, really woke it up and made it much more fun to drive.
Very nice ride! Yes, I too was a hater for years, couldn't stand those bumperettes and then I bought my 89 in 2012 and they slowly grew on me.
I never loved the bumperettes, but when I found this Formula I wasn't completely sure about the beak front bumper. Now, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well... That's a tricky question to answer. It's the same AC Compressor that's been on the car for at least the last 20 years. But it's not the original GM Harrison compressor. It was a remanned unit that on the car when I got it. The same compressor in this 1999 photo.
A couple summers ago, I got tired of the A/C not working since about 2000, and everything but the evaporator came out and got flushed. The remanned compressor got drained, I changed the pressure relief valve, and then cleaned and repainted the exterior. Everything went back together with new seals, orifice tube, and a new accumulator, recharged with canned duster, and two years later the A/C still blows cold.
I still need to remake the stock style decal for the compressor, but for now it'll do.
All of these Formulas need to be at the Trans Am Nationals this year, especially the 89's. This is our 30th birthday year!
WOW, that is sharp!! I've been contemplating driving my Formula up there since I've never been before, but I've got to replace or repair the gas tank first. Can't put more than 7 gallons in it at a time thanks to a broken filler neck and the fuel gauge doesn't work either. I track mileage by trip odometer, but now it and the odometer are starting to fail. Pretty sad really for a car with just over 69k on it. My plan is to fix it all in the next few months and then I can take it to the Trans Am Nationals. I could take my 89, but it's not really a show car and well, I'm sure there will be a KITT or two there, so I don't need to bring mine.
Hi, I'll contribute. 1987 Formula base with 13,700 miles. I know there are a lot of people that do not think the chicken should be on an 87, but I like it. Seats are by Lethal Interiors. New style AC system by Classic Air.

thanks from us MB guys! had know idea i loved this color. was looking for my first hot rod that was actually drivable (70 barracuda was always hit and miss, got fired for being late to work more than once cause the damn thing would not start ) looked at everything across the board, Lexus, BMW, Mustang and then stumbled across this color. then looked one other and snatched her up.always loved Pontiacs, especially Firebirds. rest is history
Thanks for the comments. Bring your car! The TA Nats is a great show and not every car there is perfect. I haven't seen a Kitt car there in several years.
