I just acquired gold Ronals with the help from a great friend. I mounted them on the car over the weekend and I am really liking it. I am surprised that I do like it since I am not a fan of gold. I was informed by my friend, that back in the day when these wheels were popular, the owner would paint the wheels body color. To me, I think it would be to much blue. Another suggested a shade of silver to go with the gray interior. So, I decided to ask the Thirdgen community. Do I leave them gold, paint them blue (ultra blue metallic) or do I have them done in a silver/gray color?
I really like gold wheels, but you need something else to tie it in. What about gold rocker and rear bumper emblems? -if not, I'd go with some sort of silver or charcoal.
That style of Ronal is a good-looking wheel, but the gold is '90s. Painting the centers anthracite gray will bring them up to date, and perfectly accent the blue body color.
Whatever you decide, I'd like to see you return to this thread and post an "after" pic.
i think silver/charcoal would match the car better. right now it looks like a Sunoco race car.
when i see gold rims on a thirdgen, i immediately think Trans Am / GTA.
Honestly love these wheels, and it was a good find! (I know who found them for you) But in my opinion, the look for the 80’s, and a day 2 car would be body color. I don’t think they would look bad in a silver or gunmetal either, but blue, yeah that’s my vote for sure!

Thanks! That's the look I am going for to be period correct. I have all SLP Performance parts on the car, runners, crank pulley, headers and the TOTL exhaust. I also have the cold air intake kit just never installed it.
i would say one small 1/4" or maybe even 1/2" pinstripe maybe gold and black all the way around the car at the point were the aero/ground effects
meet the car would look wild and not too busy, similar to what they do on iroc z's.it would pull the entire look together like a theme.
the stripe on this car is kind of what i was thinking with gold

the stripe on this car is kind of what i was thinking,i know its white but the gold is what im trying to visualize
That particular stripe is actually BRIGHT YELLOW. The black/gold 85-87 IROC stripes would probably be the best bet....as long as the gold stripe matches the gold on the wheels
that's what i said if you read my post, this picture was kind of low res and hard to see.
it actually looks gold in the picture i posted tbh. and the point was clearly conveyed.
