I made a build thread on this car in the Members Firebirds section, and thought I'd share some finished pics here. This was supposed to be a car for my parents to enjoy on nice, sunny days, but being in their late 70's, they can't get in and out of it very good. So, it became my daughters car. She just got her driver's license back in May, and now has the coolest car in the school parking lot!
The Trans Am has right at 100k miles, and was in pretty rough shape when we got it. It got a complete body tear down and repaint, new seat covers, new top and new carpet. Also had the wheel lips polished and I painted the centers. It was still ALL THERE, and nothing butchered up. A woman bought the car new and had until last fall when she sold it to the guy we bought it from. It had been sitting with a bad fuel pump for nearly 20 years. The guy we bought it from replaced the pump. We also put a new set of injectors in it, and new headlight motors. It runs and drives great!
It still has to get the brakes overhauled and new rear shocks, but it is almost completely finished. My daughter has been driving it all over the place, and she absolutely LOVES the car!!
For those that don't already know, I am a painter at a Chrysler dealership's body shop, so this is what I do for a living.
Thanks man! It is almost a "saved from the grave" story, lol. The car has had a TON of work done to it. It needed a LOT of work. We got the car for $1,800 and ALMOST didn't even buy it.
I just got another one bought to save. 1995 Corvette. 85k miles. Been sitting 6 years. The PO bought a new battery for it yesterday, and it fired right up! She's definitely gonna need some heavy cleaning, lots of buffing, and a little paint touch up in a couple spots.
