Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

Its a Banshee concept knock off built by someone.

Here's the original GM Banshee concept for comparison.

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

'Pretty sure Paul Sher Jr. Built that about 18 years ago. It's a '82 Trans Am. It was based on the "Knight Rider 2000" TV movie in which a customized Dodge Stealth was used...

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

Except that the black stripe matches the banshee concept vs the all Red paint job for the KR2k car.

The KR2000 car was a Dodge Stealth, however, its styling was based on the Banshee 4 concept car as well.

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

The Auction ID is in the screen capture and the auction's website shows the VIN. It's a 1985 Trans Am.

A concept/prototype car normally can't just be put up for sale to the public due to regulations and liability, let alone have a clear title to be registered and driven on the road as this car shows. So since this is a Youtuber, they're doing the normal hype for clicks with their thumbnail and story. Could be a movie car, unrelated to ThirdGen's history, or simply could be someone's custom car.

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

Its pretty clear its someone's custom car emulating the Banshee concept car.

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

Yeah this is nothing more than someone recreating the Banshee in their own garage imo. I don’t think GM ever would have built that car this way first.

Okay, if it's a '85, it's not the car I was thinking of...

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

Someone clearly wanted to make something so ugly it'd ruin those wheels, instead of the other way around.

Re: Mystery Trans-Am Custom Car

New video up... Haven't watched it all, got to the part where the guy who built it was a KITT cloner and I'm pretty sure I want minutes back. Why is it that bad taste is so powerful? The same kind of person who's passionate about making a Firebird (any Firebird) into a TV show prop, is exactly the kind of person that turns a Firebird (any Firebird) into a garish knightmare of hermaphroditic nonsense as a wannabe concept car.

I can't wait for people to still be IM'ing me asking if I've seen this before, or seeing threads about this abortion for the next few years. SMDH.
