Materials needed to clean and polish GTA rims
use aircraft paint stripper all over. get factory paint off. wetsand with 240 till it's all clean, and it all looks the same. do the same with 320,400,600,800, then 1000 grit. for each higher grit, take a long time. take your time with every grit, and I mean take it slow to make em' perfect. then don't bother to hand polish. it just won't work. get something elecric like a dremel or something bigger. then just go to town polishing. time is a factor again. try your damndest to make them look like chrome. you'll be impressed with your work. I did this all last weekend on my GTA lookalike wheels on my grandprix, and it got cold again after sunday, so I haven't been able to go @ them with the final polishing via, electric drill. and they already look awesome.

Now, Im not tryin to correct anyone here
, but I personally wouldnt, and dont use sand paper on GTA rims. Its easier to just strip off the clear, polish with aluminum polish, and reclear. Sanding them is quite iffy, and can leave tiny scratches which are very hard tog et out if you dont do it right!

I used all those types of sandpaper, and the wheel looks flawless, no scratches whatsoever. that's why the transition from 320 to 400 then so 600 is extremely important, it is during this grey area that any scrathes can be fairly easily removed. 1000 and higher is cosmetic. it's for a better factor of reflection.

When I sripped my GTA wheels to bare aluminum, there was NO machined finish! The "machined" finish is merely how the clear coat is applied.
