Rice Firebird, yuck!!!!

Ok guys, I was walking around this place called Old Town tonight with my girl, we usually go up there every Friday and put the car in the show they have there. We were wakling around the corner of a building when I noticed a mid 80's Red Firebird with some silver looking thing poking up over the roof (I was looking head on at it) I walked closer to see a 2 foot tall aluminum rice wing, or as my friend calls them, cell tower wings. It looked like the one in these pics, but it was higher. I could see it over the roof of the car. Why would anyone put that on a car like that. Our cars are supposed to be "muscle cars". I don't think an aluminum wing make a car look like muscle to me, lol.

It was one of the ones you can adjust, and I belive it had 2 bars in the middle instead of one going across. I'm bring my digi cam next time in case he's out there so you can see how stupid it looked.

I don't think putting that wing on make your car a rice mobile. It makes it look Autox, the racing vipers and corvettes have them.

RamAirZ,

Hahahahaha...last night I was driving home on 192 and i think i saw the car you are talking about...i was like WTF?!? I know there are 2 others with that wing around Clermont too, so it may have been one of them.

I KNEW i should have gone to Old Town with my camera

Two weeks ago there was a 94ish Thunderbird dropped with a five inch tach in the car, so i was like, oh something that someone did some work on... So I start checking out the car...Pep boy exhaust tips, two pillar gauges, (but i couldnt get past the tint to see what they were. ) dropped wit either air bags or hydrolics, red spraypainted (badly) rear drums.

Hmmmm... So i waited for him to leave so i could hear the engine, gets in, starts the car, proceeds to drive it lowered (no bags or hydrolics, just a bad drop job) and still a V6. Lemme tell you, im gonna mount a 5 inch tach on my Focus to be cool too

You'll definitely see some freaky *** cars up there!

Mike

LOL, ya, that guy has one red MOMO racing seat in his car, the rest are stock, lol. The vette's may have them in the racing series, but they don't have wings taller than their roofs(most of the time) This guy was not into racing, I can tell you that. I should have went around back to see if there was a fart-tip exhaust, lol. Now if it was lower(like about the height of the Z wing, maybe a little lower) it wouldn't have been as horrible (still tacky IMHO) but he got the jumbo jet size, lol.

Man! The only aluminum wing I like to see are the one's on American Pro Mods burning @$$ down the strip. Well you know they do get a advantage with that aluminum rice wing, the radio reception is probably Great!

One day there was this '95 or so Firebird cruising up behind me, I look over to see if it's a TA, nope Firebird, as I look I see this huge aluminum wing that stands like a ft. in the air. I just had to laugh and I was hoping the driver would see me laughing.

Come on, wings aren't rice; the GT style aluminum wings look good... well, not all of them and certainly not ones that extend higher than the roof, but I think some wings give the car a RACEY, not ***** look like the aforementioned Corvette C5Rs and Viper GTS-Rs etc. Check my post about my flame job and tell me what you think of the wing I'm going to make out of aluminum sheetmetal for my TA.

I think what you do here is drive off a cliff and the hang glider on the hatch will catch the wind and fly away. Ha!

I kind of like that wing too on that car. Maybe cause it matches in color. Or maybe it's the angle, doesn't look bad though.

Please dont say u like that double spoiler...well it is your opinion...so i guess i can respect it..i mean my friend is going to put it on his '95 stang. I dont like the wing at all..and saw it in person and it is way too high and "*****" as some would put it. It just isnt my taste...I think it is just the angle you are seeing it on..I have a pic of that same spoiler on a yellow mustang...it is a universal spoiler for those interested in it.....it goes for about $375.

I dont mind wings if the car needs them, my maro is getting an adj. aluminum wing. Why? Cause at over 110 mph the rear gets a little loose, I have good front downforce but the rear is laking, the stock 3-piece just isn't up to the task. The Formula is stable all the way to 140 though

if that was the case then i'd just invest in the 91'/92' Z wing. looks good and should improve that problem, alittle, i guess... You'd think.?

Thought about it but after taking measurements and the angle of the flat surface it looks to me it would cause lift instead of actual down force. It looks better though but I am more interested in performance over looks. :Runs and ducks to avoid the flames:
