washer jug and overflow tank
Anybody know how to clean or keep the overflow and the washer jugs from turning brown or discoloring.
It may be better to buy new ones. How much do they cost?
I just noticed on most of the pics everyones looks like the ones on my car. any Ideas?

I got mine from Dal at this link http://www.worldparts.com/vandevereoldsmobile/
I think it was around $14.00
Dal sells to the internet people for 10% over cost. His shipping is also reasonable.

part numbers and prices (from gmpartsdirect.com) are as follows
Overflow tank - 10170175 - 8.39
Windshield fluid tank - 22063426 - 13.89
biggest problem with them is their shipping prices are a little up there. total cost shipped would be like 38 bucks.. i get mine through my dad because he works doing body damage estimates for a major car rental company. i get them wholesale through him and the prices are a buck or so more but no shipping and i have them that day.

I thought gm had them for a good price
I guess buying new ones is the best bet. I dont think It would be worth the trouble to clean the old ones.
any idea on keeping them looking new?

I haven't had any problems with the washer bottle, but the overflow bottle on my car looks new now. It was nasty, I took it out, soaked it in a 50/50 mix of bleach and warm water for a couple days. Then I took a flexible shaft for a drill and wrapped a towel on it, scraped it around inside and got all the gunk off. It isn't as clear as new, but it looks very clean. Sure it took a couple days, but it was only about 15 minutes worth of actual work.

The carbon fiber sounds cool. But I dont know anyone around here that work with it. I think I will just get new ones for my car since they are cheep enough.
I will try the bleach on the new ones when they start to build up crud. The ones I have now have overspray on them and are dirty inside. I made the mistake of changing from green antifreeze to the orange. My tank and radiator "which was new" were empty, but the block still had the old green antifreeze in it. When the two combined what a mess, it looked like muddy water.
I flushed the system but the damage was already done to the tank. It stained it brown.
Thanks for the help!
