Is snow bad for the paint? I guess it has acid in it just like rain huh? At least there's no salt on it.
Man am I'm glad I didn't bring my car back up to college, it snowed 2 days ago, and all the cars around here have a crap load of salt on them, I've never seen that much salt on cars.

Not much you can do about it though. It's going to happen. I don't believe it'll harm it however.
BTW, how's the calender coming along? Anything new?

Actually, I'm relieved to see it with snow on it. After reading the title, I was expecting either a riced up one, or a totalled one

a car sitting in the snow isnt as bad as driving it, but also with it just sitting there when all the snow melted what was left was dirt, small rock chip things, dust, and anything else small enough to be carried by a snow flake, that pic is from yesterday, I checked back today and its covered in fine dirt, I just wonder if the all that snow acted like water drops and baked some of that dirt into microscopic holes or something...they say water drops are like a magnifying glass in the sun aimed at your paint.

It isn't hurting a damned thing. How can the dealer be expected to give preferential treatment to that owner and not every single other person that thinks their 89 Buick is just as important? My IROC is sitting next to my father's body shop with 4" of solid ice on it. It'll survive. So will that TA.

well yeah I understand that, but if you were buying a car that was so rare and nice (minus the ugly decals) wouldnt you want it protected from the snow.
I dont know if you can see it in that pic but look at the T-Tops its not just snow it has like a 1/4 inch layer of ice from sleet and freezing rain on it.

when you have to pay so much for a car like that it shouldn't sit out. unless it's the owners choice, it is a big deal.......
i hope you have a cover on that car letting 4" of ice sit on your car; obviously you need a paint job.......or you will.
i expands and contracts as it sits on your paint, not good.
for the average person, it's not a big deal to have snow on the car; but it definately doesn't help the shine.

There's no cover on my car. It's not hurting a thing guys! My firebird spent every day of it's life outside and looked just as good when I sold it as when we painted it.
Brushing snow off your car does more damage to the paint than leaving it alone. When you brush it off, you slide all of the dust & dirt over the paint. If you just let it melt naturally, you're not bothering anything. I couldn't get to that slushy frozen crap in time to get it off the car before it froze there... so now I don't have a choice and I've got to wait for it to melt.
BTW for those that are wondering, the car usually takes a winter nap under a roof & car cover, but my 5-speed swap went right through into January, and with the winter being as mild as it is, I decided not to put the car away so that I can work on it. The roof is only about 5' high and it's way too cramped in there to work on the car.

I'd call that a 5k discount on that over-priced POS.
I cant believe the sticker on that car, considering it is just a round of the mill T/A with a pale *** yellow paint job. If they wanted to make it a "special yellow" and stick a premium price on the color, they should have done it in Millenium yellow like on the C5 vette, or be a real car company and drop in a ZO6 in the engine bay, not just a paint job and grafix.
My friend bought a Daytona 500 convertable pace car Anniversary build #28 for $28000.00, which IMO is a much nicer car, fully documented. This thing is just corporate GM trying to squeeze the last penny from a dead format.

A couple of questiosn...
first what does this have to do with thirdgen.org?
Second, how do you know the cars even been sold yet? If the dealership is still prepping the car or just received it and has no where else to keep it what are they supposed to do with it? Parking a car outside isn't going to hurt it. A new car should be able to deal with the abuse for a short time. Do you think it was transported to the dealership in an enclosed trailer?
Dealerships do more damage to cars then most drivers do, but in this case its not hurting the car or anyone else.

I was out doing doughnuts in a buddy's suburban last night (I'm in SW Virginia, it was snowing all day) and we pulled into a parking lot and i spotted a navy blue IROC sitting in the adjacent parking lot with about an inch of snow/sleet on it. I must say, it was a beautiful sight. A really clean IROC only lit by the moon with a fresh layer of snow on it, almost poetic. Although I was spinning around in that suburban, my eyes were glued on the IROC. I love these cars, 3rd gen's are a work of art. I just hope whoever owned it takes care not to drive it on the salty roads, it would be a shame to hurt that car.

I know its sold cause I know about 5 people that work there.
Maybe it originally didnt have anything to do with thirdgens but now it does cause everyone is discussing the effects of snow on paint.

Good *** guys. It's a little snow. Hope you never see him driving it on the road. What if a bug hits the front of it? What if the sun shines on it? What if a bird takes a crap on it while it's parked at Wally World? There are alot worse things a car will see in the environment than a few snow flakes! Does everyone here have their car parked in a vacuum sealed capsule and never take it out?

its not really the snow i'd be worried about, its the sleet hitting it and the freezing rain afterwards thay layed a 1/4 layer of ice on it that would bother me
