I have actually seen quite a few Irocs with those wheels.
I don't know if they were stock. I don't know why someone would take off the 16 by 8s and replace them with those though.

None that I know of. My best guess would be that's a real IROC. A friend of mine has an'89 IROC and he had those wheels added, I guess someone before him put on some chrome rims, they started to rust, so he got what he could. It's a lot easier to change wheels, than to repaint a car with the stripes and decals.

Very few.In the Camaro White Book there is a picture of a white '88 IROC convertible with the 15" RS wheels.According to the book 16" IROCS were optional in '88.

Yes, some did come standard with them, starting in 88.

It is an IROC-Z people. Yes, L03's were available in them, this is a really base IROC-Z. T-Tops have nothing to do with engines, 350's and 305 could be ordered with or without them.

That's an IROC-Z, just like the formulas, they could have a 305 TBI, that's the base engine, TPI was the upgrade. The 305 TBI was the highest upgrade for the RS, it makes sence. Just like some z28's had their base engine the Lg4.
Unforgiven, the Lo3 isn't the worst engine by a long shot. The Lg4 was worse and if you want to talk about 70's 350 in the base vette that made 145hp. So what was the worst engine ever
I like how he goes into explaining all the flaws on the car and people are still bidding.

The base model Iroc in 88 and 89 had 15x7's. In 88 they were a standard 15x7 aluminum wheel used since 82--but they were painted all silver(no aluminum showing at all) and had a different center cap(all silver with Iroc Z in the center). I have a set of these--now on my 91 GMC Jimmy 4dr 2wd. In 89 they were a mini 16x8 Iroc wheel. Sized down to 15x7, but looked the same as the 16x8's. Those wheels on that car aren't Iroc wheels.

As stated earlier by IROCTWENTYGR8, you could get a 350 w/ t-tops. It's a common mistake not to think so because I believe it started in '91 where you couldn't.

Although... I can't tell from the pics, but those look like they might be the painted wheels. I just can't see the center caps well enough to identify them, but regardless... those aren't the right wheels for that year car.
Its really sad that so many people know so little about these cars. I'm glad to see the correct answer was posted eventually but this thread is a good testiment that most people here don't know what they're talking about.
As for the car being an iroc or not being an iroc, who cares? In this case the only differences would be swaybars, springs, wonderbar, and a leather steering wheel, ebrake handle, and shifter. Not enough to worry about. $3000 for an 89 Camaro is about right, I'd say from the pics its a clean car and thats a fair price.

it must be an iroc. I don't know why someone would do all that work otherwise
*Iroc taillights
*Iroc side and rocker badging
*Iroc lower body striping
*Iroc hood
*Iroc grille/fogs
*black headlight buckets
though it does have RS wheels.
the owner prolly has a RS as well and wanted to keep the 16" wheels. I know I would.
otherwise that's alot of effort to make your car look like a stock IROC.

That kind of dedication isn't that unusual. An acquaintence of an acquaintence is turning an 88 coupe into an Iroc. He's swapped the rear bumper and he's going to swap the doors, springs, wonderbar, etc etc etc... This is on a V6 coupe no less. Talk about a worthless starting point, but hey if its what the guy wants to do...
Drew, why did you not set these people straight? The 16 inch wheels were standard on the 85-87 IROCs. The 15" wheel became standard in 88 with the 16" being an upgrade. Also, the 305 EFI engine was available on IROCs in 89 as the base engine. Also, the 350 with ttops was available until 1990. Just so there isn't any question on this, the 350/ttop combination started its availability in 87.
