Valve Cover pics wanted!!
Valve Cover pics wanted!!
im wanting to dress up the engine compartment some, and the valve covers are a real eye sore. I don't wanna spend $150 on a new set, that just seems crazy, i want to either paint the current set i have now, or get some that are a basic design, and unpaited, but without the groove things on the stock ones, and paint those.
I don't think i want to go chrome, too shiney and hard to keep clean, but im not sure. I think i am going to paint them black.
Does anyone have pics of their valve covers, particularly on a TPI car?
Thanks.
Oh and the engine has been cleaned up quite a bit since the pic was taken

if u go thru a classic industrys catolog they have many types but they cost alot though but it depends on what you get really from them. my brother just got the billet aluminum from summit and they where i think 135-140 for everything but he also go the next day air crap. and they were the center bolt vavle covers too.
As from the sig you can tell a new engine is going in but when I replaced the valve seals I painted mine gloss white
....along with the TPI Plate on the TB(red lettering).....looks cool to me...I think I might get them powder coated white with the engine swap......

I'd repaint them the stock silver color. I think chrome looks insanely cheap, and polished aluminum covers will stick out like a sore thumb unless your TPI is polished too. Nothing beats a super clean stock looking engine bay.

I tend to agree with Jim. I almost always prefer stock to custom, unless it's a tip to tail complete custom car/hotrod...
...My plans for my engine bay...at least in appearance...are stock look except for my intake being silver powdercoated and I may go with stock corvette l98 valve covers if I end up going with vette l98 heads.... other than that, STOCK.... ...I'm even putting all the original factory stickers back on... ie. serpentine belt routing etc...

I saw a pair at auto zone for 50 bucks... they were edelbrock and chromed... I plan to get them first thing this summer when I'm working again... It may be a little cheesy, but they're cheap and they'll match my intake, carb and air cleaner... you could get those and just paint them whatever color you wanted... not exactly what you want, but they're cheap. Anything will be better than the half black half rust ones I have now.
if you want to see a good selction then just call jegs or summit and get the catlogs thoses are the two best places to look
jegs 1-800-345-4545
summit 1-800-230-3030
is it sad that i know thoses numbers like nothing but its hard to remenber my own phone #????
by the way i have chorme ones on my car and they are not that hard to keep clean i think they are easier the stock ones cuz chrome you can just wipe off and stock ones you have to use some elbow grease to clean them.
