I drive the car every chance i get in the right weather conditions; i typically have the highest milage of any other car i go up against at most shows. thanks for the comliment on the car guys! i really appreciate it.
as far as the neons, again the picture quality sucks i know but you get the idea. the red set is lowglow, it works well, but isn't quite as bright as my yellow set under there. i also have a streetglow gold series yellow set underneath the car. can't seem to find the pick of those though.
anyway, streetglow is the way to go; they are fairly easy to install....couple hours and really add a nice look to your ride. especially for shows. average prices range from 130-170 depending on where you find them.
just email me if you have any questions as the subject of neon seems to be looked down upon on this site.

kandied you have to get a digicam NOW!!you have a sweet car that you should be taking pics of every chance you get and your still have yet to get a nice camera!as a fellow thirdgenner and also pro neon(as you saw in my post a few weeks back that turned out to be 70 posts long!) i command you to go out and buy a digicam.i got a kodak dcp3600 for 300 and it takes sweet pics. its a 2.2 megapixel and also takes video, though crappy.nice digicam to start with in my words.one of the best for the money.
SWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
Yeah they look pretty bad a$$. Where did you mount you front neon? My buddy Jim 86 bird put his behind his fron air dam. That way you cant see the bulb. And on the back he made a little gaurd and painted it black, so you couldnt see the rear one. makes the car look alot cleaner when you dont see the bulb just teh glow. Food for thought

The front one on mine is BEFORE the airdam now. I had it behind when the set was on my '86. It works out much nicer when its ahead of the dam. Its really hard to see the actual tube, you have to be looking for it THROUGH the fog-light openings.

Jim had a 'Fesha' expert (ahem ... me) make that piece for the rear to hide the neons. I put my heart into that piece. I also like to think that I was the brains behind moving the front neon infront of the air damn. It glows much better there. That's all I have to say.

personally, if you only have a 4 tube set i would say put it in front of the air dam and as high up as you can so that the tube is hidden as well as the higher up the more it reflects out.
but, since the airdam does stop the main tube from reflecting light underneath the car i also put a tube on the back of the airdam........this way you have all areas covered.
yes i have 10 tubes total, underneath anyway, for those who are math majors.
also, a neat trick is to get there smaller 10" tubes which run for about 20 bucks a pop and run them in series where there isn't enough light if your picky.
they also look good under the hood at night.

Where did you guys mount the tubes on the sides? I have mine attatched to the inside edge of the rocker panels, and when you get far enough away you can see the tubes. I couldn't seem to find anywhere else to attach them. Thanks, Joe
I dont care if that car has a 4 banger in it (i know it doesnt
) i would give my ZR2, my iroc, and anything else for it...its the **** man..as far as the neons....how many tubes do you usually need? We just put 4 (2 long 2 short) on my friends new mustang and it looks ok at night, as good as a mustang can i guess.....his were neon green so i guess the show better then red....im defentally checking into this...:hail: :hail:

joe, it's really hard to find areas to mount tubes if you don't have gfx's like on my 91. you can do it but it will depend on the size of your exhaust.......i have a very large exhaust so i would have to have the gfx's or you would gladly see all 4 tubes on the sides as well as the 2 in the back. luckily the 4 up front are easily hidden by the plastic air dam and the like. also, different companies make different thicknesses.......streetglow being the best you can get but the tubes are rather large. so that might be a consideration as well.
redbird, if your talking about my car then yes it was one of the shows i did; right after tear down so all was left was the carpet it was parked on, we weren't aloud to have the power on during the show so when it was time to move the car i turned the lights on quickly just to get an indoor light pic.
iroc, normally 4 tubes all around the underneath are more than enough to give the right amount of glow, only reason i have 10 is because mine changes 3 colors. up front i have to have 2 per a color because of the air dam, one on each side so that their is an even glow underneath the car. with only one tube the underneath of the car isn't lit up well.
thanks to all for the compliments.

thanks for the compliments mike, much appreciated!!
the rims are the actuall oem that were polished to a mirror shine and then tripple chrome plated. personally i don't think most will want to go this route as they are as expensive as 18" niches. but, you can go to your major tire centers and most will sell you a set for around $5-800 depending on where it's sent to and given you trade your stock wheels. granted typically this is for a single plate job and the rims aren't usually oem, but they will work and look just as good for 1/3 of the price.
the best thing to do would be to find a someone who plates rims in your area and polish the rim to a mirror shine yourself, you could have a very good chrome mirror job for around $4-600.
either way, i've rode around with many different versions of custom rims on the thirdgen before deciding that the chrome stock versions just looked nicer. many compliments on them over most custom rims.
as far as the color, it was meant to look like the stock dark metallic red in the shade and shift colors in the sun and under street lights. the base is a mix of heavy metallic gold and silver with a house of colors translucent red clear and quite a few coats of straight clear. under a yellow light or normal street light you can see the red fade slightly to reveal a glittery gold color. if you look closely at the top picture you can see the heavy metallic coming through the red due to the bright flash. one of the main reasons i love the candy colors.
