My IROC's paint project
My 87 IROC is in the middle of it's paint project. should be done in a week or two. It's originally black but I'm changing it to Patriot Blue. Patriot Blue is the dark blue color used on PT Cruisers. It's a pearl paint so it's dark enough to look black at night or in a dark shadow but is a nice shiny blue during the day or in sunlight. The blue hasn't started going on yet but there's about 35 pics in here of the car in various states of disassembly and prep. Ever wonder what a 3rd gen looks like with no fenders or nose? it's in there, ground effects and spolier remover. doors removed. there wasn't much left before the real work began.

It looked good as long as you were at least 6 feet away. in some of the before pics you can see all the white spots on the doors. Those are spots that the paint was chipped off. there were a few small dents and one big one (hidden under the bra) I should have taken a pic of that. It might be noticable in the pic where the nose and fenders are sitting in front of the car. It was on the front corner drivers side. The paint on the fenders looked like a dried up mud puddle (hard to see in pics). just a lot of little imperfections that all added up together constituted a new paint job.
Besides, we all know that we are more critical of our own cars than anyone else. It was bugging me and I was getting a good tax return so. abarara cadabara, tax return gone.
I hope to have more pics up next week with a little of the color applied.

it's going to get a single silver lower body stripe instead of the silver over black factory stripe.
I am going to put the IROC door stickers back on
the "tuned port injection" stickers on the rocker panels and the Z28 badges are both going back on as well as the Tuned Port Injection on the back bumper.
So I guess to sum it up. yes the IROC stuff is going back on.

That'll be a sweet looking color, but I still love black of course
Can't wait to see it finished.
