I don't have it, but looks like it gives around 1-2" . Here's a photoshopped pic.

The Cowl induction hood will give you the best clearance. It is also much better than the SS "ram air" hood for perfomance.

I personaly like the look of the SS hood over the cowl hood, but that's just my personal opinion. There's a lot of people who like both, and they are both nice appearance mods.

I'd say if you're looking for added clearance and performance than the cowl hood is the way to go. If it's looks you're mostly interested in, buy whichever one you think looks the best.

what about all the water and dirt that will get under the cowl hood...isnt it bad to get your distributer covered with water and everything...also i kind of worry about cats getting in there

I just got my ss hod today, and it gives you maybe 2" total clearance. My stock hood would rub my 14x3 edelbrock o.e. breather, and it clears it by about 1.5 inches now.

Hope this helpss

I was thinking about the SS hood as well. I cant remember how good it looked on a black car. I know there is one pic floating around of the SS on a black camaro. Forgot who's it was. I am just afraid I will lose the detail of the hood with it being all black.

i like the cowl induction hood better if its not overdone. Like no 4 inch cowl hood on a 15 second car.

The SS hood IS open....there is a little grille insert in it. All its really good for though would be too cool the engine down...or if you have an open air element...let colder air in.
